you got the ribbed alu motorplate! Very cool.
Does the rollcage of the gen 1 ultima fit with this tranny?
Be glad you didn't win those robinson gears: I have a couple of them and they are bad: to the extend I could not use most of them.
The counter gear is not running true, some spurs have the slot to fit on the backgear off-center. Real disappointing.
Still have to make work of getting a better gearset accesible to the folks here and myself... it's gone on the backburner and I'm playing with other models too much now to get the motivation right

the rollcage i did notice the other night, im going to take a heat gun to bend the roll cage around the top of the gear cover/plate. just a bit higher, should fine.
worst comes to worst i might have to get wing mounts and cut off the roll cage mounts because it will be higher than it should after bending.

just a update.. pics later tonight..
Used the new RB5 drives axles (with the original ultima hubs, new rb5 ones wont work) on the car..
also bought these shocks

They were discussed here before, and had these for a while, and they are actually pretty nice quality. They are the same size parts as the RB5 shocks, but dont have a removable bottom to rebuild, kind of like a gold shock bottom

which part exactly do you mean by 'hub'?
Did you manage to get the front axles working? It's a little tricky: I remeber having to improvise quite a bit.
Keep in mind those front axles will reduce the already short wheelbase. Maybe time to flip over the front arms and gain about half an inch.

ah, yes indeed: with the standard arms that's the right axle carrier to use.
I 've got narrower ones on mine but am using wider arms to compensate.
I only had one rc10 for a couple weeks and that was quite a bit longer than the ultima, maybe it was in 'long mode' with the nose plate advanced? could be the swept back arms on the rc10 also which make the car longer but not in wheelbase

Did you really pay that? It doesn't even have the slipper, gearcover and plug, leave alone the cnc milled and anodised moterplate!
I heard from others you can also fit a triump beltdrive in very easily, which includes a slipper. But i did not hear much praise for this drive train unfortunately. Also; they may give you trouble on the age if there's a limit in the rule book.
The trackmaster is fun but has no slipper and the open design does give me worries on the lifespan of the diff. I think you can put an A&L slipper on there pretty easily.
Just another idea: with your tools and skills: why don't you try making you're own? Something along the lines of trackmaster is not so hard and you can use whichever slipper and diff design you like. Just stick to M3 belts for ease of availability

I think the Triumph transmission works well. I think it was Darryn who said that people would remove one of the belts inside to make it more efficient or eliminate rolling resistance. I don't know if the internals fit directly into an Ultima transmission case, but I know the whole Triumph transmission is a direct bolt-on to the Ultima. You may have problems trying to find a spur gear if you strip it.

luckily i have all the extras, plus extra slippers from daryl. for the rc10 i want it more for looks rather than running. i have played with the triumph stuff and might try and make my own type of tranny, using bastardized parts from different trannies lol. due to the cold weather and my workshop being outside, i havent done much this winter. last week or so ive been building my new ultima rb5 with the mid arm conversion. just waiting on dogbones and a second set of la243 arms (sucks you need 2 sets to make one set of rears lol)
i know this is high, but i havent seen one of these in a long time, figured i would jump

the umw510 kit has been discontinued for now from kyosho, all the parts are available easily though.
basically its 2 rear velvet shock bodies, 2 sets of rear lazer arms (each package comes with 1 front and 1 rear, so you need two to make a set, weird), dogbones, and shorter shock tower. Everyone is also running the slightly longer gold shock shafts, i would need to get part numbers, they are coming with the "worlds kit" that isnt out yet, and not part of the conversion
