Yes I recall filing out a 3mm for zerda 1,

juicedcoupe wrote: Wed Aug 24, 2022 10:10 am Lighter fluid will break down old grease and lubricants without damaging the plastic parts. It's also good for removing servo tape and other mild adhesives.

Regular Zippo or Ronsonal fluids are just light hydrocarbon, naphtha blends.
No lighter fluid handy but 3in1 oil , wd40 and white spirit worked on grease and adhesive.

I have used mineral spirits (similar to white spirits) before. I prefer the lighter fluid because it dries clean, without any residue.

But whatever works.

I saw that rig on ebay. Tempted on the price but clearly looked like too much work and i think it looked like 2wd only (?).

Good tip, just used what was at hand but might use some isopropyl to clean off residues

Seller gave me a modest discount when asked but I got stung with tax as well. 2wd might be resolved with drive cups and shafts as diff and belt are in place. Also I have most spares needed. Salvaged enough screws from stock to enable this first stage rebuild

Shocks cleaned and fitted, not tested for oil seal which is a zerda weakness, still 'first fix' with alien mid deck and kyosho tomohawk driver (dadio's tip).
Undecided to go with old or new electronics. Acoms or flysky
Just to be a runner
Waiting for drive cups for 4wd
Thinking of just a bit of grease in shocks for pneumatic effect, any feedback?

Ct-60 gear box cover, £30 from a US seller. I don't think so, I found a square black plastic flower pot in the shed that'll make bundles.

Sudden realisation...wheels on this zerda are originals even if the tyres are crap. Need to remove shitty paint job and find 1.75 inch/44mm inner dia tyres.

And the wheels cleaned up ok with a soak in alcohol. I had these Advan tyres in the shoebox, a bit worn but look alright.

That's coming along nicely , if I was building a second Zerda I'd be really tempted to try the mid motor conversion .

Maybe one day... With old gearbox sides I replaced on the MK1
Happy accidents so far: wheels and finding suitable tyres, and I got an 18t pulley with 5mm bore then found a piece of Meccano sleeve that made a bore reducer. What are the chances?
Been rereading your refurb posts re kyosho tyres etc etc
Next job is steering servo
PS Meccano shafts 4mm and maybe colets, gears etc could help with a mid conversion

In the post today, drive shaft cups from eBay seller. 4PCS Steel Joint Cup B Set for HSP 94122 94123 94111 Redcat 1:10 RC Car.
And they fit pretty well on the front diff with 61mm dogbones.
A bit snug and maybe slightly shorter dogbones needed. I intend comparing them with the other zerda.
