Last year I attempted a box art paint job. The design is actually very difficult to mask. I spent a lot of time getting it taped off as best I could. I sprayed the light blue first, and it came out great (first picture shows this). However, when I painted the darker blue, the shit hit the fan.

I used Duratrax Candy Blue. I heated it up first, to make sure it was thoroughly mixed and sprayed uniform. Perhaps it was a mistake to heat it, or maybe I heated it too much, because it came out like rubbing alcohol mixed with snot. It immediately seeped under most of my tape lines, and was so runny that even with a single pass, it pooled up.

After spending all that time on the body, it was ruined within seconds. I was so pissed that I threw it on the shelf and haven't looked at it until now. It is possible it can be fixed, but I haven't even tried yet. At least it was a Marwan body, and not my original.

Dimitri - Your paint looks great. Perhaps you would like to paint one for me?

Painting can be either very rewarding, or extremely frustrating, I feel for you on this one.
I would be nice to let an expert paint them all for us, but when they go the way you want them, you can’t beat it, once they are decaled up and sat on your model, like an art form.
I will document my body paint job, hopefully it will turn out ok.

That's sole destroying ! You can paint externally and finish with a clear coat .

Slightly off topic here, but wondering if anyone can advise on the correct transmitter for this period.
I currently have a futaba attack-R which I am using with the TB. However I have just acquired an old KO Propo EX-10 and a couple kR297-FZ receivers.
I can’t find any info to the year of manufacturer for the KO.
Which would be more appropriate?

If I'm not mistaken, pactra has discontinued their line of trim tapes. You can find them on Ebay of course. I've only ever bought them in auction-lots on ebay to save on the expense. Elitemodelsonline.co.uk seems to cary the same line now under another name (trimline). Royal Blue, sky blue and black.

Tamiya polycarbonate spay cans PS1, PS3 and PS4 should do the trick.

If you're not in a hurry, sure I can paint one for you. I suppose you can have Marwan ship a TB lexan to me so I can work on it. We would have to discuss the price of course (materials, work, shipping).

No sweat. We're all here if you need any tips on painting and triming. This is a picture from a race at a local track. Racing against inferno MP9's!
Oh and since you asked about transmiters... I use the Futaba ft-t3pb.... Pure vintage awsome-sause that can be converted to 2.4ghz.

I can highly recommend Parma Fasmask, and other types of liquid masking.

I used Fasmask for all of my car bodies and found it much easier than masking with tape especially for cars with lots of curved lines like the Turbo Burns. It also seals perfectly. Even all the thin lines are painted on rather than using micron tape, and they turned out very clean. The micron tape is very useful for guiding the blade while cutting out the section of the liquid mask and can be re-used several times.

Please don't give up and keep trying to do it yourself! It is really worth it in the end.

^ Thanks for the encouragement Lexster. I have wanted to try liquid masking for a long time. I feel I would have good results with it. I like how there is really no chance of the paint seeping under, which is typically my biggest problem. I do not have an airbrush, so any designs that have fading are out of the question using rattle cans. Also, I tend to want perfection, and that is rarely achieved when painting these small bodies. I have ended up stomping on several bodies over the years out of frustration.

Lexster - Any chance you have a BSW19 Gear available, or know someone who does?? It is the last piece I need for this TB build, besides paint. I need this BSW19 gear before I disassemble the car to add the upgraded fiber brake disc, and BSW1/2 diff gears. I have had no luck finding one. I am also hunting for Turbo Inferno upgrade parts. That is my next build, and my goal is to build it full option, or as close as I can get. This is my current haul of parts. After gathering it all up for the below pictures, I realized I have a pretty good pile already. The OS RX engine is brand new. I happened across the NIP Duratrax CF chassis for about $20, and couldn't believe my luck! I still need to find a Inferno though,

I have a slightly used BSW19, but I'm guessing you want a mint one.
I also have a long front shock tower, new in bag for the T.Burns, if you're interested.
If you want to use that shock tower, you'll need an extra pair of rear shocks and I so happen to have an extra pair.
The only part that's not mint on those, are the shock caps, but you can track those down easy enough.

Could you tell me what the Kyosho RM-16s are used for on the Inferno?

Yes! I found them about a year ago and was pretty excited. I can't wait to put them on the Inferno build.
