Re: Gene Husting's Trophy Girl Car
So.......this paint job has been a pain in the ass as much as the roll cage. I got the colours laid down and realize that the red which I sprayed second made the blue darker where it wasn't masked off. I think now it's time to take a brush and do a lot of touch up before paying down the white.

I'm sure I can with some patience, bit it would have been sweet to lay down the white and get the stickers on and see what it looks like with the cage, and and andSFC K wrote:Oh, man! That does suck. I hope you can salvage it with the brush.

Re: Gene Husting's Trophy Girl Car
I commend you on your results on such a daunting project.
Looks great to me. I just called NASA and they figured it was 2,256,323 times better than I could do. I think they forgot to carry a 1 in there somewhere, but my appeal was denied...
Great work.

Great work.

Re: Gene Husting's Trophy Girl Car
I couldn't stand the fact that there would be brush strokes on the body, so I took the time and masked off the blue
To all those who told me to take the time and do it right, go f yourselves. I am glad they didn't tell me to do it right the first time though.
It should look a lot different tonight.....if everything goes well.

Re: Gene Husting's Trophy Girl Car
I probably shouldn't have the body on already, but I didn't do a great job on it anyway. I will just touch up anything that gets scraped. Here an update, maybe I should have takin the time to place the roof on properly
Maybe on the next update I will make things look better. I need the stickers for the roof and the one on the hood to complete the body, and some better trimming on the nose.

Look at the photo at the top of the page. You will notice that the blue has two different shades and that because the darker blue has red over spray on it. If I were to lay the white down it would stand out even more. I had to back all the blue with red to make it uniform an then spray the white.

Re: Gene Husting's Trophy Girl Car
A little update, got the shock hardware complete. For the front I took a look at the box art car and done the same as Jason mentioned. I just painted the nuts black, and there was an added washer behind the front nut that had to be painted black too. For the rear, it was pretty clear, a non lock nut and a washer painted black behind the shock bushing, which is turned around. I also redyed the shock towers and swapped the spring retainers for the non-slotted ones.
What is left, I need the chromed knock offs and light rears, white wing buttons (on the way), front RPS outer rims, a few more decals, and fabricate the interior and oil filter.

Re: Gene Husting's Trophy Girl Car
that looks pretty sweet.
question though........ shouldn't that have been a small rear wing?
