Tamiya '67 Beetle Resto-Custom
Here's a couple shots of my 13 year old Tamiya '67 bug.
It's never been run.
Ahhh, If it was only real..

I just wish Tamiya would've come up with a more subtle body mounting system...

That looks gereat. I've got one of the m-04 version. painted in yellow. I had a hard time with the stickers for the lights, I can;t get them to stay down over the curved surface, they kept peeling up. So I decided to just drive it

Re: Tamiya '67 Beetle Resto-Custom
I'll admit, I kinda cheated on this one.
The original body is still unpainted, (I was burned out from another project) it's a Tamiya factory finished body I bought from a supplier in Japan. I figured it was better to buy one that was already perfect, than to risk rushing through painting a 13 year old body and possibly screwing it up.
I had photo copied the decal sheet on the original to use on another project. (the B2 Baja) Wow...you gotta have lots of patience to cut all those details out. (and I only used a small portion for that project)
I'll give anyone loads of credit who can successfully add that kind of meticulous decal work to their bug.
It does currently have monster Beetle headlamps for a more realistic look. I may or may not light them up in the future.
Here's a shot of the group that's taking up space next to this one:

I owned 2 out of those 4 bitd 1:1 cars, had many bugs including a 67 and I had a 66 bus even worked in a VW dealership for 3 years. I think those are great.

Re: Tamiya '67 Beetle Resto-Custom
Thanks.
I love the air-cooled VW era. In my opinion, they were the coolest cars ever made.
The water-cooled VW's were never my thing. (What happened to style, simplicity, and great design?)
I've got a 1:1 scale '69 Bug that I've had for years, I have no plans on ever selling it.
If it's got a water pump, it's got to be a Mustang, Camaro, Challenger (or my Ridgeline) for me..
