So I says to myself ... "Self, wouldn't it be nice to try a trailing arm RC10 at the '09 VONats?" Of course it would, but I don't want to run a typical chassis conversion which are getting harder and harder to find. Wouldn't it be nice to try something different and use some of the bits and pieces I have collected? Sure it would, so this is what I did ...
Started with a used but not abused AE graphite chassis and went to town!
What all did I do? I used my molded Andy's Pro Race chassis to determine all of the suspension mounting points. Then, made some graphite "wings" and bonded them to the AE chassis. Thin sheet carbon fiber was used top and bottom to reinforce the 2 additions and hopefully hold everything together. I may make a simple undertray to make sure I don't peel off the bottom sheet. Oh yah, it's gonna race!
I'm not sure I remember all of the parts I used, but here's my best recollection ...
AE graphite chassis, Andy's Pro Race front suspension, rear bulkhead, trailing arms and shock towers. Team Pit Stop chain drive trans, Custom Works battery mounts and strap, A&L steering. Pro Line front wheels, Trinity 2.2 rear wheels for the 1/4in axles and modern rubber.
And how better to finish off this project than with a modern body and wing. That's a JConcepts Illusion body and wing for the Losi XXX CR. At stock Losi XXX body fits just fine as well. All I had to do was make a small bracket for the rear body mount.

Re: Custom Trailing Arm Conversion
I wish some manufactors that produced some hop-up chassis's for the rc10 would reproduce them . I like your chassis . It makes me want to build something creative. Thats is what this rc10 hobby is all about coming up with new ideas to keep the vintage 10's going.
