Losi XX-4

Post by pituk »

I have wanted one of these since I saw it on the track ten years back . I recently purchased a nice used one , rebuilt it and gave it a Haro inspired paint scheme . It currently has a SuperRooster with a Epic 19t motor installed . Lets see some pic's of the XX-4 and your mods.

You bet you gotta get one,Gary!
These cars are,in my humble opinion, the best handling 4WD off road car ever.So well balanced and can take a stick sized li-po pack with basically no mods.
With a few basic mods and some selected aftermarket parts, these cars are an absolute delight to drive, the only downside is they're a little tiresome to wrench on.
I've owned my XX-4 for around a year,now.,Just a basic $120 eBay score.
Trinity made some of the best aftermarket parts for these cars, unfortunately in part to the XX-4 becoming popular, again and Trinity not making these parts anymore, prices are high.
The Trinity parts to go for are the motor clamp, motor mount, shock mounts and a steering servo mount.
If you want,Trinity also made an aluminum front bulkhead, shock collars and wing mounts,if you have money to spare and can't get enough blue anodised parts!
A Trinity rear pivot block for the XX buggy can be modified to fit the XX-4 and works well (my car has this mod).
The 'high performance' green belts are the ones to run and I usually use the 'B' rear diff bearing blocks with the arrow pointing to the rear-this is a tight setting,if you want to run it even tighter, use the 'A' stamped blocks, again with the arrow pointing to the rear.
Always use the heavy duty thrust races in the diffs-X Ray make a stronger one,but I can't recall the part number.
I'm running a Mamba Max 5700kv brushless system and the XX-4 loves it!
I'll post some photos of my XX-4...Joey King knows LOTS about these cars,if you have any questions,he's the man.

Highjacking? Really? He asked for people to post pics of their XX-4's...Oh well, live and learn!
Just stripped the JRX2 down...I reckon I can remove,or at least polish out, most of the scratches on the bottom of the chassis with some very fine wet and dry sandpaper, used wet with soapy water.

Nice XX4 Fasterlouder , I was unaware a stick pack can actually fit in there. My local lhs does have a Trinity motor mount left , is this a good upgrade ? My motor does seem to run rather hot.

The Trinity motor clamp is a good upgrade,I don't have one...Yet.
The Trinity motor mount I do have and since installing it,I've found my motor is definitely running cooler.
I don't have a 'Hot Weather' body,that has a few more air scoops,so it's been a good thing.
If you ever snap or replace a belt, make sure to replace the pulleys, too.
I find after a rebuild,it's a good idea to spend a pack just on getting the clutches set just right, also.

Out of all the cars I own,or have ever owned,my XX-4 is my favorite.
It is my pride and joy and no expense is spared on it-time or money wise.
It loves the brushless system and puts the power to the ground so well.

I'm loving my Losi cars more and more...I haven't run my Associated cars for a while, now.
