Kyosho Pure Ten Spider 4WD GP MKII

Post by Dangeruss »

In 1998 Kyosho supplanted their 1/10 4wd touring car, the Pure Ten Spider GP10, with the new GP MKII. This new Pure Ten Spider used a new aluminum plate chassis, relieved down the center for lighter weight, and a new black anodized radio plate that served double duty as a chassis stiffener along with a rear mounted tie rod attaching the plate to the rear bulkead. A number of chassis mounting points remained in the same location as the outgoing GP10, but the components attached to them were redesigned to lower the vehicles center of gravity. New reinforced symmetrical lower a-arms and fixed camber links attached to revised bulkheads front and rear while the steering servo mount was relocated and a new dual bellcrank steering system with built-in spring-loaded servo saver and adjustable tie rods was installed. Plastic shock towers replaced the previous aluminum units and supported the now oil-filled plastic bodied coilover shocks with aluminum caps. The drivetrain retained the same pinion and spur primary/belt driven four-wheel drive system with open gearboxes, bevel gear diffs and metal dogbones as the GP10 as well as the hubs and knuckles the axles passed through. Wheel style would vary depending on the vehicle though all models wore slick rubber tires. Each unassembled kit included a ball bearing GS-11R motor, muffler, flip top fuel tank, large front bumper and bearings, less electronics and radio and could be had in over thirty different body styles. Additionally, there was a World Cup Edition released the same year that featured a blue anodized main chassis, carbon fiber upper plate and shock towers, hard anodized Teflon coated shocks, tuned pipe, two speed transmission and hardened main/counter gears, available with or without engine, less body, electronics and radio:
