My top RC racing achievement of my youth @ 1990 ROAR Nationals
So the last official RC race I ever participated in was at the ROAR Nationals in 1990 at the Hobby Haven Livermore Raceway in CA. I was in 6th grade, my brother drove me to the event. I wanted to be contrarian and got an ass kicking racing my Tamiya Egress. I disliked the fact everyone had an RC10 and won. I think this is when the stealth debuted. Doesn't crowd mentality get boring? After the trauma (actually nice memories of getting a Masami and Cliff lett signature on my RC CarAction magazine) I became a shelf display person to this day. Some people helped me with adjustment and battery charging SCRs. Didn't matter in the end.
I stilI kept the trophy, but sold off the buggy recently with tears (fond memories) in my eyes. Good bye Egress. You sucked but looked great doing it.

Excellent story. Hope you got a decent price for the Egress, considering it had vintage race pedigree and all.

F Main, pretty ironic
That's cool you got a trophy and memories of the event, bit of a shame you sold the car though.

I have to confess there were less than five buggies in the F Main (crap might have been three but you all don't know) So a third place finish was a mighty achievement. I recall buying the exact pin tires Cliff Lett used at the local hobby shop...believing I could. The belief / irrational confidence you have as a fifth or sixth grader going to a national event is a valuable lesson.
