Re: The next rere... a GT?!!
The K&B I have is the .18 with the cast head, but I ordered a machined head as well for it. I already had the engine here. I also ordered another one with the machined head and a plain backplate off the plane engine to get rid of the pull start, but the pull start clears fine. It hangs down a little but no problems. The header does need to be changed, and I went with a used one off an older gt. You might be able to find one from a Traxxas rustler or something else similar before they went to the rear exhaust engine. The clutch and accessories came with the truck.
The first batch of AE engines shipped, I got mine Monday. Not sure if anyone has them in stock currently though.

Got it - it sounds like I'm better off sticking with a more plug-and-play solution. I see Amain has the AE engine open for preorder, so maybe they'll get their batch sooner than the AE site-quoted late June.GoMachV wrote: ↑Fri Mar 14, 2025 12:40 am The K&B I have is the .18 with the cast head, but I ordered a machined head as well for it. Anyone got good pics of the AE engine? Is it a private label Toki engine?

Brake nuts are in, and look pretty good if I do say so myself!

Did the AE engine come with a decent manual? I'm hoping to get extras ordered and I'm curious which glow-plugs and nitro to order. I can't tell from your photos, but I'm guessing it didn't come with the plug?

It's not a very vintage looking engine, I reckon the engine Jeff bought with the bar stock head looks the closest, if only they were pale blue. Even saying that it probably wouldn't be too hard to get a small run of bar stock heads made.

I actually really like the look of the VX18 head. Reminds me a lot of the cz-z
The K&B reminds me of the Duratrax head. Mine should be here Monday -

Thanks for confirming. Perhaps it's my ignorance on the topic, but I'd have assumed including a manual was SOP. It would have been helpful for someone like me who's trying to keep from frying the darn thing right out of the gate
