By then my reciever, an R142JE had already arrived. So with those in the car, I put it aside to finish another project and in the interum I picked up a nice Novak T1 from member Jeremy, screen name here “Brad”. The T1 was in working order and already had its original connectors removed, so it was perfect for me to add my 4 pins to and use in this.
At first I wanted to do something special with the sealed can motor, so I attempted to work out a few deals on nib Tamiya sprint motors, not that they were legal in my class, but this has been becoming a trend for my hobby projects! They start off as a defined plan and somewhere along the line they venture off into right field. No different than life! So reality reminded me how much money I was dropping on my “projects”, I added in Christmas with 5 kids, then decided, no lol I do not need a $200 40+ year old motor that was never legal to run in this car I’m building to resemble a car I actually raced long ago

Back in my racing years I never once broke in my sealed can motors, but figured with a slow progressing tribute build that will never be run, I had to do it lol! So I used cold water with some simple green and ran it for a few hours at 4.8 volts, blew it out with electronics cleaner and oiled the bushings. I don’t have a motor analyzer, but I will say rpm sounded like it increased after break in. Nice gain, gonna work well on that shelf!
After that I Sharpied the window, door and vent highlights on the body, and put the car in my display cabinet for the Holidays.
A few days after Christmas the T1 came in, it looked as described, and finally yesterday I was ready to wrap it up. I did some mock wire routing (I wish the esc guys would have run the heavy leads out the backs of the cases to prevent my ocd from triggering lol) but once I decided on mounting location, I soldered on the 4 pins, used colored heat shrink cause I would have definately done that as a kid! (NOT) Finally I tidy’d up my servo leads and antenna, and deemed it finished. I could not find my tiny medicine bottle of crystals for my FP-T2PD after 25 years and several moves for whatever reason
