I don't see Associated telling customers to put a Traxxas motor in their GT's... imagine the meltdown buyers would have...

And doing so might violate some contractual agreement. Traxxas will find a reason to file suit and AE might fold.
Don't mess with big T.

Haha. No, they'd never say it, but they released a gas truck kit into a market without a readily-available engine for said gas truck kit so people are going to find ways to get it running. And short of some Chinese knock-off from Aliexpress or something I can't really think of another readily-available NPS short-shaft side-exhaust rotory-carbed .12-.15 engine.

Part of the problem with releasing a 35 year-old kit back onto the market is the march of time has rendered certain parts of what made that kit work in 1993 obsolete. The electrics work because modern brushless systems share a formfactor with 540 cans and people were quick to make LiPo trays for the rere electrics. The supply of small nitro engines has pretty much dried up and many of those that do exhist still are rear-exhaust and slide-carb because that's where the technology went. Rotory-carb and side-exhaust is oldschool, and pretty much nobody produces oldschool anymore.

Except the Big T.

The initiated among us can find an old redhead OS .12 CV on eBay, find a dusty-old new-old-stock rebuild kit for it and go to town. For the "normie" hobbiest? Yeah not so much. They're going to want an out-of-box turn-key drop-in.

I received a reply back from K&B and they are looking into packaging their USA made .18 into a non pull start. She said they have plenty of components to do it and they would get back to me with details soon.

Oh, and Force is hardly a knock off. They were a pretty decent engine back in the 9ps when we sold a ton of them at the job y shop under the Ofna brand. But they are out of business so there is that

Dynamite had a firecracker (no pun intended) of a little .12 until just a few years ago. That was the last engine I had in my GT before I converted it to electric.

Is NPS the only way AE's going to release the kit? If so I see an explosion in desirability of old PS-ready exhaust manifolds.

I don't want the word Traxxass mentioned on this thread again...ever! 😃...K&B are classic engines..it's not hard for anyone to go that route, even if u have to buy the airplane backplate...but it looks like Jeff is getting that squared away.
K&B!!

Out of curiosity has anybody actually bolted that traxxas engine into a GT with non-pull start mounts? I only ask because they have a sort of heat sink on the back plate and I wonder if it will clear.

i think its so cool is has a gold chassis. i think a gold worlds would be cool as well. when this news first broke with the teaser on insta i had a comment here about how cool it would be to have a gold anodized chassis but deleted it cause i didnt wanna sound like a nerd.

be dope for trinity to make their tranny mount/chassis stiffener again, as well as the cresenzi brake setup, which imo was the best thing you could do for a gt.

theyve been updated over the years but the two rigs with tires are the oldest rcs in my entire collection. not much left of the original kits but i had a ton of fun with these things. (always hated cleaning them tho)

You can still use pull start engines in the non pullstart mount as long as you have the non pull flywheel. The backplate just hangs down from the chassis a little bit

Id swear the pull start interferes with the motor mount plates

Maybe the early early ones as I remember them having two sets of holes. The blue chassis GT's non pull mount wouldn't fit a pullstart engine nor the Trinity engine mount.

Don't know jack snap about nitro r/c, but current Traxxarse doesn't get promoted around these parts. A lot of us prefer to be better than that in life... please and thank you. Carry on.

Oh, and the new RC10GT kit is sweet.

ooop! nvmnd!!

Grabbed the wrong "example" (hardcore chassis)

A "stock chassis" one.... yeah, it does look like it'd fit, and it'd just hang off as said above
