Plazma Limited - Last 1/12 Re-Release?
I can't help myself ... these Kyosho re-res are like crack. The chance to finally run the cars I have sitting in my closet NIB for years...Anyway, I am floored that they decided to release this limited version of the Plazma ... I thought I was the only one left that had ever even heard of this car let alone have one.
It's not my absolute favorite in the series (love to see a Plazma MKII, Axis EX, or Plazma 3P, but now I'm just getting greedy I know) ... I'm just looking to start the rumor mill here & see what y'all think about upcoming releases. I'm guessing they go back to the buggies & start moving up the Ultima line, but with 3 versions of the Fantom, they keep surprising me.
Do you think after the Plazma MKIII Limited one that Kyosho is done with the 1/12 re-releases?

Re: Plazma Limited - Last 1/12 Re-Release?
I hope they do a few more Plazma kits myself! A few years back I was hunting for a nice original Plazma mk II, during my hunt, Kyosho dropped the first Fantom EP legendary kit, so I jumped on that, not even thinking they’d do a Plazma later. Last month I let my 11 year old build his first kit, a re re Tamiya nova fox ( my first hobby grade rc car was the Fox in about 85) while he was building I pre ordered the Jay Halsey RC10, I didnt even know Kyosho released the Mk III until I chance opened my Instagram and it was the first thing I saw
I also have a full-size project car, so bouncing from one hobby to the next lol I guess I miss some of this stuff! I’m tempting myself typing this with hunting down a Mk III, but my wife might put me out lol. Gotta let a little time go by, to many boxes on the porch lately…Oh well, but yeah, I want a few more Plazma reissues!!

Re: Plazma Limited - Last 1/12 Re-Release?
Did you ever get the Plazma MKII? I'm restoring one now. I have 2 Fantom re-res and an original NIB, an original Plazma mkIII Limited, a 3P, an Axis EX, and just got a Spada 09. Oh, and a modern Plazma Ra. I'm a 1/12 kyosho hoarder and the last 1/12 track near me closed so I have nowhere to even drive them anymore... at least the ones I don't want to thrash in the parking lot.

Re: Plazma Limited - Last 1/12 Re-Release?
I didn’t get anything. I’ve been finishing up my 10L projects, but I am still eyeballing the Plazma re-re. My issue is similar to yours, no place to run these. I was a racer back in the day, but there are no on or off road tracks within a few hours of me. I like the collector side of the hobby, but not having a real site to run this stuff is pretty discouraging. With that said, I am also thinking about doing an ultima, where I could at least run it out front some.

Re: Plazma Limited - Last 1/12 Re-Release?
I just noticed something sorta interesting.. the front axle is switched around on the re-re... the side where you adjust the camber with that set screw is on the other side o the original. I may be stuck on step #2 (where the f is that el1st e-clip supposed to go?!?) , but smart enough to see this .. I compared the photos on each box - may be hard to see .. I wonder why?

Anyone building this Plazma Limited? I am stuck on step #2 like real bad .. I don't know how I'm going to get those e-clips onto the hub without an extra set of tiny hands.. holding a spring down with this awkward caster tool while somehow popping that eclip on there seems impossible no matter how many times I watch the dude on Youtube do it.

While I haven't built mine yet, that's the same system the Associated cars used. I always try to do the top one first, get it between the spring and steering block, then slide the kingpin till you feel the grooves. Once you push it into place it locks the top, then you can push up the steering block with one hand and install the lower clip with the other. The spring pushes the top clip hard against the block. It's a difficult step on the AE stuff too, but after the first few times it gets easier

Re: Plazma Limited - Last 1/12 Re-Release?
I've built half a dozen plazmas & Fantoms ... and have run into tough spots on a number of builds... I think this is one of those times where I think there is about a 0% chance of me getting this right before I lose both springs & every e-clip in the kit. I can put the e-clip on OR I can hold that spring out of the way; can't do both. The dude in the build video got it done, but there's some fancy editing there that cut out the exact moment beforehand! Some kind of black magic is afoot for sure. The tool provided is very flimsy & doesn't do a good job holding up that spring, and I don't want to end up scratching up the kingpin all to hell. Argg. I don't want to swallow my pride & bring it to a LHS & watch some punk do it in 25 seconds, but I may not have a choice because I can barely see the thing .. yeah, yeah, I'm going to go with that. It's my old eyes.

Re: Plazma Limited - Last 1/12 Re-Release?
The trick is, as I was saying, to do the top first where the spring pinches the e clip against the block, then you don't need to worry so much about it flying away. I then move the kingpin until I can feel the clip "find" the groove, and from there your just pushing it in. You shouldn't need to keep holding the spring up out of the way, use it to your advantage

Re: Plazma Limited - Last 1/12 Re-Release?
Oh good... I feel better now ... When I was 14, I could build a Kyosho buggy or pancar practically without even needing the manual...Not only is my vision making it a lot harder, what's worse are these these newer cars that come assembled with only an exploded view & no step-by-step assembly instructions ... I can't see those things at all, and am not about to sit at my work bench trying to zoom in on a PDF! Instead of the old "Age 13 & up recommended" there should be a warning that says "May frustrate hobbyists >40" .
I just lose that eclip completely & can't really guide it by feel with that crappy tool & then hold my eclip-tool thingy steady without dropping it, or worse, shooting it across the room & destined to be eaten by a vacuum cleaner one day. I hate giving up, but this one is really brutal.

If it helps, work with your hands and components in a gallon ZipLoc or freezer bag as you put on the circlips. If you send one to the moon, the bag almost always catches it.

This is a great idea! I seem to recall a very very long time ago, somebody offering that advice or something similar. As a younster I probably ignored and mostly forgot it lol but it will remain in the front pocket from here on out

Sounds like an R/C Car Action "Pit Tip" ! I was just saying to myself that I needed to enclose that space regardless ...eClips are always a pain, but having to move a spring simultaneously is next level
