oh crap! thanks. I didn't buy the JJH but I'm turning my 40th into one. I bought a pre-painted body and was wondering if and when I could get parts...looks like it's $87 w/o coupon for all the custom parts.

I noticed you just got the Airtronics XL2P, isn't that the Tx JJH won the '85 IFMAR with?

Oh I didn't know that. It was my first transmitter so I was looking for one. I remember back then it seemed everyone had the Futaba Magnum or Magnum Jr. I ordered my RC10 w/ my moms credit card from a Sheldon's Hobbies ad in RCCA. Their bundles usually had the XL2P and it has a special place for me.

Pretty sure that's the exact one he's holding in the middle of the page above.

Thanks sir! I could not resist when I saw it! I think that was the Halsey’s preferred motor?

On a side note, do you know if these old motors just did not have super strong magnets or was this thing possibly demagnetized over the years? I mean a quick test run and it’s spins up nice, probably better balanced than any brushed motor I’ve felt, but just free turning the arm, it feels a bit soft. Not that it’s going to get run hardly at all, but just curious.

It's hard to say on what magnet strength is now for the motor vs 40 years ago. The silver dot motor should be a 21 turn double, per the compiled vintage motor listing. Not the wildest modified motor but probably good for a lower speed track with a lot of turns.

Gotcha. I knew it was near the 20 turn range, I forgot to even look at the motor list. Back when these things were new, I was still largely running silver can motors in on road classes, so my stock/mod motor experience at that time was non existent lol

Dots on Edinger motors don't necessarily mean the same thing as the dots on the later Ultra Series motors (which is what's listed on the Ultimate Brushed Motor Reference Guide). The part numbers are also different...yours is 6510 but the silver dot Ultra is 6521. The 6510 motor is listed as "standard" in the Edinger catalog, and "road" in the early Caddy catalog.

I have a silver dot Edinger Reedy motor that has a 16x1 arm in it but I got it used so the arm may have been swapped.
