So, what did you do RC today?

When it's R/C related, but doesn't fit anyplace else.

I got stuck into this pile today and gave it a jolly good raking. It finally looks like a fairly decent berm. Over the next three days it will get hammered smooth with the soil tamper and eventually oiled.

I got rather wet and soggy at the meldrum bar track. Also drove through a puddle that was a big larger than I bargained for and injured my hornet. It will probably be fine once it dries out though. So will my shoes.

I put wing end plates on my XLS and one of my Cougars. I hadn't bothered with them before because I knew they would just get torn off. Now I have a big stack of them. They do look better than no plates. We'll see how long they survive.

Again with the end plates...
Also, painted a Cougar 2 body from Penguin. My recent visits to a modern track have destroyed the body on my green Cougar. It looks fine from 3 feet away, but has 3 long splits in the lexan. One more crash and it will fall to pieces.

Hopefully I can finish up my Falcon restoration today. Waiting for a BEC switch and a channel 84 crystal.

Been getting progress done on a buddy's Team car he's had since about '91-'92. Old plastic servo saver just shat the bed and made for a good stopping point I suppose. Unfortunately, his 30+ year old Topaz is alotta bit weak and only turns around 24k rpm at 7.2 volts after being cleaned up nice with new brushes, bearings and springs. Magnets feel very weak when turning the armature shaft by hand. Which is fine since it'll live on the shelf. I have a few other good Topaz motors which are much stronger and all turn 33-36k rpm range. At least his is still in very nice condition.
Other than nuts and bolts, only parts that have been replaced and aren't original are; wheels, tires, plastic steering assembly, ball cups, gear cover and front nose tubes (one of his broke when trying to remove it). Will also have a new Boki Viper body and wing.

Thanks pal. The white plastics on this one were yellowed to the extreme too, but man did they whiten up very nicely. This is what I started with. The turnbuckles in the above pictures are the originals seen here.

I thought you said you restored it. Looks identical? jk. Very meticulous work.

I spy a Black Magic motor off to the side? Any model number markings on it?

Painting the B3 body. Spoiler alert. It went horrible. Sprayed off the Losi Strike while it's drying. It's been sitting for years.

Another collecting day. Picked up another lot of mostly nitros, just for a couple of electrics, so need to get to work selling. Then stopped by rcjohnny's place and picked up one of his FTW-based TMS dually chassis. I first saw these a few weeks ago, and have been thinking about them since. Not sure what to do with it right now due to its specs not being typical of much out there, but I will come up with something.
