Re: Scr8p's Worlds Re-re #4 / Modern Masami '94 Winterchamps Replica
Not a whole lot going on with this at the moment. Once the tub gets back here it should go rather quick. But in the meantime, the plain "classic" nose tubes showed up, as did the rear camber links (which I quickly stripped), and a couple pieces from Pargu. Jeff sent me a couple pairs of the A&L wing mounts a few weeks ago. But, I did not know that Pargu actually made the lightweight yoke wing mounts. They're kinda pricey, but since I had to buy a pack of the wing buttons anyway, I splurged on them.

Nothing new. I have to get electronics for it, paint a body, gather proper sticker.

3 year update!
It's this car's turn to race at the Vonats. I got one of the new Jconcepts scooped Mirage SS bodies painted by Darkside Designs late lsdt year. Finished getting it trimmed and mounted yesterday and started getting the stickers on. Missing a few yet. I have all of the electronics already. I'll get more pics of that when I button that all up.

Re: Scr8p's Worlds Re-re #4 / Modern Masami Replica - '94 Winterchamps
Copy/paste (with some edits) from my FB post on the Vonats:
On to my racing. Let's start with 2wd. I raced a rere Worlds car. Everyone was saying Jconcepts Ellipses were a popular tire there, so I started off Friday practice on greens. As the groove came in I tried a set of lightly used green Dirt Webs and the car felt better. I thought the track could handle a slick. Not a full slick though, so I mounted up a set of green Octagons. The car felt great on them. I was also playing with a couple different FDJ tire sauces across all of my cars. Ended up sticking with the green dot sauce in the races.
For racing on Saturday, I used that same transition. 1st round Ellipses, 2nd dirt webs, 3rd Octagons, and stayed on those in the main. The 2wd field was TIGHT! 11 guys had turned 16 laps. It put me 2nd in the B. I had a bobble in the begin that dropped me to 4th or 5th. I made my way back to 3rd and was driving my ass off to catch the leaders (Reggie - Charlie dont surf was leading), but I was 1.5 seconds behind Mark Baldwin at the stripe for the bump. I was bummed, but I'm glad I had fast, good handling car, and to see my driving consistency getting better. If I can clean up the little bs stuff I'll be in the mix more often.
The car also won best paint in the concourse, which was cool. I would've rather bumped to the A though.
