I just came on and noticed the board was super slow. Checked the server monitor and the load was at 100%. Logged into Cloudflare to check the traffic activity because I suspect another traffic issue, and sure enough Singapore is at it again. I had to completely block the country from accessing the site to resolve it.

It also seems like we're getting an excessive amount of bad traffic from the US again as well, so I had to re-enable the filter we had in place the last time it happened. :?

Now in other news, how do members feel if I added a pop-up ad at the bottom of the board that only guests can see? Once you log in, it goes away. :?:

Is it Singaporian huntin' season again?!

Why a pop up ad vs. an imbedded one? Would it be written in Singaporian?

It sure is ma! Unfortunately, we have a few members from there as I was contacted by them the last time I had to block the country. Luckily it's just a temporary thing that dies down over time.

As it pertains to the pop-up ad, there's already an embedded one at the bottom so it would be in bad taste to stack two on top of each other.

Ah, ebbs and flows, gotcha.

I'd vote no on a pop-up if you had to click it away before you could log in... but if it generated enough revenue, I could see getting outvoted by the 💰 💰 💰

Same, so wouldn't bother me a bit. Don't see how or why it would be an issue for members since it would go away after logging in...?

This morning I can get on fine via my phone, but it won't load at all on my desktop with Chrome?
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

FWIW, I'm on my laptop using chrome, no problems.

Very strange. Just tested, and I can get on via Edge, but Chrome still does nothing. Probably just needs a POPO. :D

When I first opened the site this morning, I got the automatic verification notice for 3 or 4 seconds, but that's it.

The filter in place for the US is an automated Javascript challenge that doesn't require any interaction. Yes, it simply lasts for a few seconds before continuing. If It doesn't let you on, it's likely a combination of whatever Javascript version your device is running along with the device itself. So basically a localized problem.

Exactly, in a day or two I'll remove the US filter to see what happens. Luckily this only happens occasionally. It would be great if I could more precisely pinpoint where the problem is coming from. Say a particular state or even the IP address(s). Not just the country as a whole. This way it would cause less of in impact on the normal traffic.

You shouldn't have to close the pop-up to log in as it would be what's called an anchor ad at the bottom. I can't promise anything though due to the plethora of screen sizes, configurations, and devices out there which is understandable.

I just found out that we received several donations so far this month but the notification portion of the donation system isn't working so we had no idea. :? That's the reason your member group hasn't been changed yet. I'm working on it now!

Im using an older chrome based browser and Cloudflare stopped allowing it past it's check. it just hangs at the check and keeps reloading the same thing but wont go past it to get to the site. i also have no problems using a newer browser on the same pc.

Before going to sleep today, I checked the logs and whatever bad traffic we were being hit with has subsided enough where I was able to remove the US filter at least. :)
