Shapeways is bankrupt and no longer doing business. The website is still there but no one is there to support it.

Something's up with Shapeways... what company goes bankrupt and leaves the site up like it's business as usual.

It takes effort to actually take the site down before the lease is up. Since whomever was in charge of it probably got canned I doubt anyone bothered. Hell a site I owned was up for about 3 years before it closed after I stopped using it. I mean you can still find sites from the 90's out there still running without anyone at the helm.

I think previous management kept it live intending to buy it back under a new company, then it'll be business as usual like nothing ever happened... just with less debt, and private ownership. Have to wait and see.
