Traxxas Blue Eagle LS

In 1991 Traxxas released the next evolution of their racing truck, the Blue Eagle LS. The new LS (which stood for Long Suspension) carried over a number of key parts from the previous Blue Eagle, such as the transmission, front and rear bulkheads, graphite shock towers, shocks, bellcrank steering and bearings. The rest of the truck was all new and included a revised .25in. longer flat deck graphite chassis with 30-degree kickup to which the externally adjustable three gear Pro-Series transmission and white nylon bulkheads attached. Long, blue anodized aluminum, oil-filled coilover shocks remained at all four corners with new black stainless steel springs. But the Long Suspension designation was the main attraction and its white nylon arms stretched the four-wheel independent suspension out further than before. This necessitated longer telescoping driveshafts and turnbuckles for the camber and steering links, the latter connecting to the bellcrank steering system (grabbed from the Bullet parts bin). Attached to the ends of the arms were new Pro-Series caster blocks with inline axles, the axles themselves shortened for increased strength. The new white nylon cone dish wheels were lower in offset to tuck the suspension deeper into the wheel to reduce scrub radius and not exceeding IFMAR's maximum vehicle width. Tires for the LS would be Pro-Trax Spikes in the rear and Pro-Trax Multi-Ribs up front. The low slung clear lexan body for the LS was designed and manufactured by Alec and Lane of A&L MFG. fame and called the Slam It S10. Available only as an unassembled kit, less electronics.
