Reedy Tru-Stock & Mr. Outlaw Motors
For the 1991 season ROAR instituted new stock motor regulations which included a commutator locking device and maximum 24 degrees of timing to tame the "Motor Wars" that developed in an ever increasing battle of timing advance. Reedy's contribution to empower competitors came by way of their new Tru-Stock motor outfitted with wet magnets inside a slotted can, "silver shunted" brushes, "Copperhead" springs and the required 24 degrees of timing with commutator lock. Introduced at the same time was the nearly identical Mr. Outlaw motor with 38 degrees of timing intended for NORRCA races without a 24 degree timing limit. Competition breeds innovation however and by 1993 both motors were supplanted by Super Tru-Stock/Super Outlaw models that offered increased RPM while still meeting ROAR/NORRCA stock motor rules:

Re: 1991 Reedy Tru-Stock & Mr. Outlaw Motors
What's interesting is that some Super Outlaw header cards have 36 degrees of timing on them while others have 39 degrees of timing on them. Then to add to the confusion, some info claims the regular Outlaw Stock has 36 degrees of timing while other info claims it has 38 degrees of timing. I wonder why all the discrepancy?

I feel like there's a joke here about the answer all being in the timing.Lowgear wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 3:18 pm What's interesting is that some Super Outlaw header cards have 36 degrees of timing on them while others have 39 degrees of timing on them. For the Super Tru Stock, this was the only picture I came across. It looks like an add-on sticker.

The “SUPER” is an add on sticker over the original one.
