Re: What's in the mail? Or, What are you currently waiting for?
I've been living at a place with a pool since 2012, and have bought a couple of vintage boats during that time with plans of getting them up and running. That has yet to materialize for a number of reasons, and I finally became tired of it this year. I've had my eye on a Pro Boat Jet Jam for a really long time now but found myself not wanting to part with the $100 for one. My thought process was to use it for a summer as-is, and then transfer the electronics to my paddle wheel boat as they're a perfect match. The week before father's day Horizon Hobby marked them down to $75 but for some reason had them for even less on eBay. They were going for a mere $50 so I bought one.
That was 10 days ago, and I'm still waiting for it.
It should have been here twice over by now but they used the crappiest shipping option through FedEx they possibly could. Looking at their feedback, that seems to be a major complaint. Anyway, at least it will be here today.
The last time I bought a new current R/C was a Tamiya Mighty Bull from Tower which was somewhere between 2004-2006! I haven't bought anything from them or Horizon Since then as modern stuff isn't my cup of tea. Who would have thought?
I tried buying some RC4WD pulling wheels from them late last year, and had a bad experience with that. I quickly found out they sell things they don't have in stock. I should have learned my lesson but couldn't pass up the $50 Jet Jam deal.
While frustratingly waiting, I started checking out all the off-brand 'Chinese sweatshop special' boat offerings on Amazon. I've never paid much attention to them due to the presumption they were worthless junk, and I guess still might be. I was very surprised though to see the specs were superior on some to the name-brand offerings like Pro Boat. It piqued my interest enough to buy one! I went with a Bezgar TX124 which showed up last Friday. I took it out of the box, and checked everything over this weekend, and my initial reaction is good. I plan on possibly running it today. The main reason for buying it though was the same as buying the Jet Jam, which is to get a complete set of RTR electronics on the cheap for my vintage boats. If I like it enough though, I may keep it as-is, and buy another one next year to poach the electronics out of.

Found some Jammin Jay 1985 Pro-Line tires for the tribute car. Seller's pics.

Had to buy these rear wheels also, in order to get those fronts. Need the correct front tires to complete this set.
MCI Racing JJH Decal sheet should be here next week too.

Those are great rear tires...
But, Tamiya Holiday Buggy tires are what he ran.

Thanks for the info! Maybe I'll set out to find a pair of those Holiday Buggy tires at some point, but the sidewall writing on the Pro-Line's is my favorite look of that period.
Going to have to be a loose interpretation on the JJH, don't think I'll ever see a Novak NESC-1; and those 1003 knobby's are scarce too. Certainly won't be drilling any holes in the chassis

Been waiting on a foam tire file for over a week now, coming from Florida. I can't finish shaping the foam tires without it, and can't cut and mount the body until the wheels are the right size for the wheel wells. Got the truer already: https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=49483

Also waiting on a NOS FP-S148 servo.

I didn't think I would ever actually post in this thread, but I am currently waiting for my world's repop from FANRC. It has been two weeks since it left China, and it has been in limbo for the past five days or so with no update.
I am usually pretty patient, but I have been looking forward to this vehicle more than any other vehicle in awhile!! USPS finally updated today, stating that it should be here Monday (which it is currently in CA, so unlikely), but I have to work out of town most of the upcoming week, so I won't see it until Friday!

I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

I love those black rims. I have a set on my hornet. Only issue is that I can never seem to find enough of those screws!GreenBar0n wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 2:19 pm

Re: What's in the mail? Or, What are you currently waiting for?
The rear wheels I got from that auction are missing the center hub and rear plates, it looks like pieces for the 100-F fronts, and 100-R rears, but only the face, or outer rim part of both sets; I told the seller all of this before i paid, he didn't care. The extra NOS slotted screws, still sealed in the bag, made it easier to deal with.

Do you know what those tires went to?

Seller's pic.

'85 Jammin' Jay Halsey NOS Pro-line 100-F chrome front rims, and a pair of lightly used Pro-line 1003 front Knobby's.
Someone drove the price up at the last minute on all of this, but I was a determined buyer
. If anyone needs anything other than what I listed above, PM me.
From this angle, the (4) empty rear tires, (2) of those look like vintage 50153 Holiday Buggy tires, the same ones that JJH had on the IFMAR car, but I can't see Off-Roader written on them, the tread pattern of two spikes and then three, with none on the sidewall, looks like they might be it.

Yokomo wing buttons, for a JJH tribute car.

They made it all the way to my local office, and got lost while out for delivery. No further updates or scheduled delivery.

Might be a while if the seller has to send another pair.

coincidently, I was browsing ebay for tires this morning and saw those. They are pro-line 114-R.

and looks like this seller has the 100-R wheels NIP
