Team Associated updated their 1/12th scale pan car in 1986, calling it the RC12L. Originally designed by Gil Losi Jr. (of Team Losi fame) the 12L sported an entirely new chassis that would dispense with the previous generations transverse mounted stick pack for recessed saddle battery mounts. Chassis improvements extended forward where the front a-arms were fixed and cross braced allowing the new coil over kingpin to provide suspension movement and steering would be handled by wire tie rods with a locking collar and Kimbrough servo saver. Out back new separate t-bars with a coil spring and friction dampened top plate would attach the motor pod to the chassis. A nylon bulkhead with an aluminum motor mount and axle spacer located the motor and ball differential closer to the center of the chassis and featured height adjustable axle spacers. New lighter wheels and foam tires would be supplied with the kit and the RC12L would come in a number of different fiberglass and carbon fiber configurations, though a body and electronics would not be included:
Just got this in the mail today. I was thinking of doing a boxed art with it, Anybody know what body is on the box and if anybody makes aluminum wheels for the 12th scale like sees? It came with a Yokomo SP-12MS1 body. Thanks

Carpet cars survive REALLY well... they don't scratch in race conditions hardly ever. ;)
Front bumpers seem to get abused though
nothing a little crack filler and red paint cant fix
I just picked up this kit recently, NIB with the factory seal still intact. The questions is, Do I build it or not? Also, does anyone know where I can find an original body, I haven't had luck on my searches and nothing on ebay recently.
Ì received this 12L the other day from LurkingCAT which was in pretty good shape for its age. It will be a tennis court runner since that's about the only place that I'll be able to use it. The surface of the moon is smoother than Astralian parking...

Yes it is the holmes hobbies revolver which is an outrunner motor. I'd say more like an airplane motor but still very similar to a drone motor.
I think the 2500kv is too much and feel the 1900 would have been a better choice. I haven't actually...
