Demon 2D Speed Controller

Post by ian332isport »

Hi,

I wasn't sure where to post first, so figured I'd start here.

I recently stumbled across my old Yokomo YZ-834B Dogfighter and though it would be good to see if I can get it working again. I'm starting with the Demon 2D speed controller as I vaguely remember that was the original problem. I don't think anything burnt out as such. I seem to remember it took a whack which broke one of the legs of a transistor, although I can't actually see any physical damage right now. Mind you, It's probably over 35 years since I last used it, so it's all a bit hazy.

Does anyone have any info on these old Demon speedos? It looks like it's had a transistor and diode piggy backed on it at some point. I bought it new and don't recall ever doing anything like this. I didn't know all that much about electronics back then, so fairly sure it wasn't me. Here's a few photos.

I need to order up a battery pack before I can do much testing though. Am I still looking at 7.2V NiCad batteries for this, or have things moved on?

Thanks,
Ian.

Not much to add except @dinglem
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.

Hmm. Looks like I can't send a private message.

Hopefully he'll spot this and comment.

Yes it has a red circle sticker with hand written writing from what I can make out 572 which is stuck on a clear plastic box as I'm a new member I cannot download images?
