Vintage RC10 Brushed Stock Motor

Post by ls1heli »

Hey guys new to the rc10 scene.

Got the 40th anniversary kit and I have a vintage “Cadillac” motor in super condition to put in it.

I haven’t figured how to put a picture on. It’s a blue label made in Japan assuming what is called a Yokomo.

The end bell is an anodized gold or brass color.

What year is this motor from?

Also what would be a good set of replacement brushes and springs?

I’m not looking to race anyone, just want to tune the motor up.

I believe that type is from the later versions.

It uses a upright brush. Due to the popularity of crawlers, you have lots of replacement brush options.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

I've stocked up on these brushes among others, https://www.amainhobbies.com/yeah-racing-hackmoto-v2-replacement-performance-motor-brushes-4-yea-ya-0415/p529889. But I have dozens of vintage brushed motors.
Or you can just get a pair of springs and brushes for $10 like this, https://www.amainhobbies.com/tekin-hd-crawler-motor-rebuild-kit-2x-springs-2x-brushes-tektt3804/p659197. Ignore and don't worry that it says "Crawler Motor Rebuild Kit" in the title. It's not crawler specific, they'll work for any motor with "stand up" brushes. They are many other options out there if you look around as well.

You guys are the best.

That is the motor. So 88/89. perfect for this build.

And thanks for linking to the brush kits.

Were these motors pretty strong back in the day?
