Thanks! The Diamond One did the body

Very nice build... one of these days I have to get around to building my Optima Pro. You've given me some motivation! It's been sitting in the closet far too long. It's not like I'll ever sell it, so I may as well build the thing.

Glad to know this prize of my collection is now worth about 75% less today...never would have expected this to be the one to reissue. Though I suppose the fact that I can now buy one to be a runner is a silver lining. So far the only place to preorder is HK with an $85 shipping charge for USA.

The $ value of a kit only matters if you plan to sell it soon. My Top Cats are worth less (some might say worthless?) today, too, but that is my widow's problem.

Of course... if I were going to sell it, I'd have done so long before now. I've had it 20 years already. It's just something that's happened to me already a couple of times, where the most "valuable" ones get re-released..and the choices have been surprising. Who would have thunk they'd have re-released 3 versions of the 1/12 Fantom?! My original Optima NIB is sitting next to my old Fantoms, by the Ultima Pro (also sorta recently re-released), my Tamiya Falcon has to be next.

I guess I do too. The Falcon was my 1st ride... It's not like us vintage R/C nerds buy these things to turn a profit; maybe it's just nice to know some of the boxes in my closet are valuable... and also a little annoying that Kyosho seems to be choosing exactly the ones I have originals for! Also, these limited production runs are pretty much forcing me to buy them all as soon as they hit the shelves

It means parts will be available & I can actually drive them instead of just collecting dust in my closet or looking pretty on the shelf. Maybe most of all I don't have to worry about it taking a year to find a replacement for some random part I lose during the build.

It will be pretty darn cool to finally build that Optima Pro & get a new one I can feel comfortable bringing to the track. Same with a Falcon if it comes out ... I've been hearing rumors about that for a while, so who knows - but Tamiya has to see how well Kyosho is doing with them, so I'd think it'd be a smart move.
