Re: Trinity Joel Magic Johnson Champ motor?
So if I wanted to have this motor freshened up a bit could someone tell me what brushes I would need to find that would be correct for this type/brand of motor?

Re: Trinity Joel Magic Johnson Champ motor?
You will want stand-up brushes, not laydown brushes. The difference is how the brush and the curved contact end are oriented in the endbell. Currently your brushes use an eyelet terminal lug to attach with a screw to the endbell. The other type has no screw lug and is soldered. You can use either but there's no reason fof you to change over to the soldered type. For the curved end, you can use solid, half cut, or serrated face but solid is just fine and more standard. For the shunt wire you can use single wire or two shunt. Either works well. Variations in brush face cut, number of shunt wires, and being soldered shunt were to try and gain competitive advantage in racing. All are period correct and ok for your motor. I have solid face brushes with single and double shunt, lug and solder attachment differences on these motors. However if your existing brushes are in good condition, there may be no reason to replace them.
