My own personal Tyco and Nikko collection
This is going to be a long thread because I have alot of these and they are the ones you wanted or remember as kids. I'll upload them throughout the day.
I'll start with my Japan made Turbo Blaster. This car is fast and well built for what it is. It's a 1989 first version of the Blaster with the 8 AA battery compartment. The car has a differential and the gearbox I think is the same one that is on the second generation Bandit before they did away with the differential for the third generation Bandit. Interesting BigWig style front suspension mounts but they are a weak point and they can crack where they mount to the chassis.
This is a really cool looking car and very 80s looking. There was a 90s version of this called the FX4 where it had red LEDs inside the after burners and used the same chassis as the Tyco Wild Thing/Turbo Hopper. I tried to track down the FX4 but they are rare.

Re: My Tyco and Nikko collection
Here is my second generation Bandit with the differential. All Tycos that have "Turbo" on the engine cover have gear diffs just incase your wondering. Unusual to find these trucks with the front bumper and Spot lights in tact. The truck is in really good condition. This is from 1992' I believe. It's modeled on a Nissan pickup truck from the mid 80s. I think it looks great in red. It's a lovely fast Tyco, really goes well on a modern Nimh battery pack.

Re: My Tyco and Nikko collection
Ever seen a hen's tooth ? Here is a hen's tooth ! This is probably the rarest Tyco I have. The sponsored Nigel Mansell F1 car. This is super light and it's fast ! Very low center of gravity. Its from 1993 and probably not many of them were sold. I bought this on eBay and I was so lucky to spot it when I did. It's a 1/14 scale like the other Tycos above and what most 9.6V Tycos were. It's a lovely representation of the real life car. There is something weird about the drivers helmet, seems abit wrong how that was designed. All original with box and instruction booklet. Lovely car to look at while having a cup of coffee.

Re: My own personal Tyco and Nikko collection
Everyone knows this, it's a beast and probably faster then all the other Tycos. It's a bullet off the line. Lovely condition and amusing to watch it take off, blink and you'll miss it.
Tracks are in great condition for their age. I love this in red. There is a Fast Traxx Pickup also which is the same but with a Tyco Bandit style body on it. There are 2 Mabuchi motors in this. I think this model is a legend to be honest.

Re: My own personal Tyco and Nikko collection
This is my Hi jacker, the chassis on this is a modified version of the Wild Thing/Turbo Hopper chassis. Body springs up on the touch of a button on the controller. The body being jacked up doesn't give the car any better off road abilities. The center of gravity stays the same. I drove this mostly with the body pushed down and only popped it up when the kids on my street were watching. The body is similar to a Lamborghini and the red side strips give it a lovely touch to be honest. Speed wise it's similar to the Bandit as far as I can tell. Good looking car.

Here's some more pictures of my Hi jacker, I had just finished giving it a good clean when I took these pics previously. I posted these before on Rc Groups awhile back.

Re: My own personal Tyco and Nikko collection
Here is my Nikko Hurricane, it's a 1/12 scale but more like 1/10. It's a big buggy almost the same size as my Tamiya Boomerang. This is weird one, it's one of those Nikko's that was almost hobby grade but sold as a toy grade. I have a plan to put hobby grade electronics into this as I think it kinda deserves it. It's shaft driven 4WD with a differential in the gearbox, has a Mabuchi 380 motor and doesn't make the best of it... It's reasonably quick but the speed controller is restrictive and isn't pushing the motor as hard as it could. Nikko probably did this to stop kids burning out the motors. I did wire it up to a Tamiya ESC momentarily and the Motor span at much faster RPMs.. Should be a good runner so in the future.

Fun collection you have. I had a half trax as a kid. Constantly broke it. Dad kept fixing it. What good times. My best friend had the fast traxx and I think it was just a little faster than mine was.

I remember the half Traxx, the green one in particular. Only difference was you could go around corners with it

The Tyco Turbo Fast Traxx is an awesome RC. I had the pickup version I got for Christmas of 1990 if I remember right. I remember it being badass in the snow.

Re: My own personal Tyco and Nikko collection
Here is my Tyco 9.6V Scorcher 6X6, it's 4WD not 6WD, in some countries Tyco had to stop putting 6X6 on them because it was false marketing so they put 4X6 on them instead. I have an earlier version of the Scorcher hence the 6X6 branding. Similar tank style control mechanism with the 2 forward and back sticks to the Fast Traxx. This car does wicked 360 spins but is abit slower on the straights compared to the the Fast Traxx. The gearbox doesn't have a low and high gear like the Fast Traxx so it's tuned between torque and speed.

Re: My own personal Tyco and Nikko collection
My Tyco Devastator, this is quite large. Nice long travel front and rear suspension, super 90s illuminous green chassis and wheels. The upper body is the same as the Hi jacker. The Tyco Turbo hammer is the same as this but with a Super Bandit style body. This car is fun to drive and will go anywhere. There is a differential in the gearbox also.
I remember my friend having one of these in the mid 90s. Lovely pistol grip transmitter comes with this. It can be a bouncy car but on straight tarmac it's really fast. There is a wheely bar on the back of this also so when you hit Turbo on the controller the front end pops up. Reminds me abit of the LunchBox .
