Parma Hemi Coupe

Post by Dangeruss »

The Parma Hemi Coupe was introduced in 1991 as a simple kit designed to capture the imagination of enthusiasts interested in scale fun over racing prowess. Its 30's era polycarbonate hot rod body and chrome Supercharged Hemi Engine attached to a simple fiberglass plate chassis. Foam tires on chrome wheels were supported by a spring over kingpin front suspension and the chrome wheel shod big foam meats in the rear were spun by a ball diff equipped direct drive with alloy hubs supported from a formed aluminum rear motor pod. Olite bushings were supplied with the kit but electronics and radio gear were not. Parma sold a number of dress up parts for the Hemi Coupe to add to its scale realism.

I had the Corvette version (Hemi 'Vette) when it came out which I drove to destruction. I have several fond memories of taking it to different places to run it. After I got bored of driving it on the street, I started taking it off road. Who knew gravel and foam tires didn't mix? I wrecked the wheels, entire underside, and body. I then took it apart, and lost various pieces along the way. I finally chucked whatever parts I had left of it not too long ago as they were in poor shape, and covered in white mold for some reason.

Always wanted one, many years later I purchased a Hemi Coupe 2 when it was still available new. Started building it and never finished. I chopped the body like it was sectioned and channeled…. Looks like I also cut the rear pod in half. Don’t really remember doing that

Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.
