They look like carpet/turf/clay track cars. I imagine they would have some tuning options for different surfaces. I have no experience with them though. I've not seen the SB-401R but I do have their S1V3 kit. Top marks for the kit build and quality, it is a very nice with great parts. I have spares but nothing has broken yet.
Minus points for the transmission FD ratio, it makes finding the right gearing much harder. Another big miss is that there are no shock tower protectors available, I'll have to DIY some now that the track requires them.
