Who else loves the Stadium Blitzer?

I'm bored today and somehow got on the Stadium Blitzer. I think it is one of the best looking trucks and one of the best kits from Tamiya. Strong, reliable, cheap, easy to assemble and decent performance. I will never forget as a kid walking into Sheldons Hobbies and seeing a pallet of them for sale on the floor.

Here's my re-re, nothing special as it's the same as thousands of others. (Video is not mine)

Tamiya has had a spotty relationship with ball diffs. It really makes no sense what RC vehicles they have put them in over the years and other ones they have avoided. For some odd reason the TA01 chassis got one, but there was/is still not one for the ORV/Blackfoot gearbox. Thanks to Tamiya having a desire to have a stranglehold on IP rights, Eustace Moore probably has his hands tied in what could be amazing products.

I absolutely love the Stadium Blitzer as it was my first hands-on experience with a hobby grade R/C.

Tamiya ball diff grease is pretty so-so in my opinion.

A guy around the corner from me had a Blitzer with some sort of batteries and "magic" Novak ESC that would give him 30+ minute run times. I was pretty impressionable at the time and while still doubtful thought it was pretty cool. My RC10 only ran about 10 minutes.

love the Stadium Blitzer and all rcs that had this chassis. Tamiyas 2 gear, 4 bearing, gear dif super simple trans set up rocks. I had a Stadium Thunder back in the day that I wish I never sold. I was a big fan of the Futaba FXT too, wish I got one when they were cheap.

......... My RC10 only ran about 10 minutes.

Best 10 minutes ever. Starts slowing down, then the steering sticks, and the msc hangs up, pretty much done, slow circles. Then you flip it over and let the battery run "dead". And against all labeling, you throw the only battery pack you have in the fridge until it cools off then you slam it back on the 12v DC charger and crank that 15 minute dial and give your buggy a once over while you wait for your next 10 minutes of glory. Heck yeah.

Good times right there.

Ha ha, flat battery and the steering veers left with throttle input. It was a sign the fun was over. Back inside to the 15 minute timer charger that was stinking hot from charging packs non stop.

I made a trailer out of a Folgers coffee tin to carry batteries to the park so I didn't have to carry them. Of course a bit too much speed was always involved which ended up spilling the batteries all over the road.

I just finished a Stadium Blitzer rere. I flipped the steering knuckles over, replaced the plastic upper arms with Tamiya 42mm blue anodized turnbuckles, Pro Line 2.2 the edge on front and Jconcepts 2.2 goosebumps green truck tires on the back and fully ballraced it. Cleaned up the battery area for a 2s or 3s lipo, it rips good, pretty much box art with a few additional stickers, painted it with a first layer of pearl white.

Just bumping an old thread. I just purchased (don't possess yet) a well used rere Blitzer. The PO bought it worn and put on new wheels/tires, CVAs, and body (decals not mounted) on it. The bottom is worn, but I already purchased a tub and bumper parts tree to handle that. I would like to make this as original looking as possible ............ but outside of sticking a MSC in there, I don't know what to do to make it more original than rere??? With my Blackfoot, I could stick shocks on there and the correct body and was good to go, but what do I need to make a rere as original-like as possible? I am comparing the decal set that comes with it to that of MCI and nothing is sticking out to me. I read somewhere about body mounts (or locations) being different, but again, nothing sticking out to my blind eyes. Thanks

While the decals look similar, a couple of the sponsor brand names are different.

I don't know of any body mount differences. One of mine has original mounts and a re-re body with pre-cut holes. If they are different, it isn't obvious.

Mechanically, the MSC is all I know of. The re-re steering rods might be shorter (I'd have to compare).

Whatever you do, be sure to get a steel pinion gear. 32 pitch, 13 or 15 (optional) tooth. I like the Robinson gears.

The Tamiya aluminum gear is total garbage. It wears extremely fast. It will damage the counter gear and get aluminum powder all inside the transmission housing.

The buggy is mostly built from Blitzer Beetle parts.

The FXT isn't technically a Blitzer but they share some suspension and driveline parts. All of the arms, carriers, and caster blocks on that one are new re-re Blitzer parts.

Thanks! I will look closer and just print out whatever the older sponsor decals are. I will also dig out a pinion gear from the stash for it.
