Re: So, what did you do RC today?
Before I went to bed last night, I threw together a really quick design for my Hilux bed rails (the originals are missing), and printed them as a first draft. Surprisingly, they came out better than expected and I am calling them final. Wasn't planning on printing as much as I am on this vehicle, but even when I can find some of these parts, I am not paying the prices that people want.
The next guy can make it perfect it he wants to.

I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

Re: So, what did you do RC today?
Was out driving the junk box mutt, power-slidding through my neighbors long (300'+) gravel drive. All of a sudden, the truck came to a complete stop.
Somehow, this big ass rock (23X18X11) managed to get jammed in between the wheel and control arm.
I had to remove the wheel to get it out. These are deep offset wheels (Traxxas rear), so it did something special to get in there.
At the same time, I managed to snap off a front camber link ball stud. But that didn't really surprise me, as this truck is mostly built with the worst looking hardware that I had.

Soldered up a 10W 30ohm resistor, and started cycling some 1400mah SCR's.

That reminds me. I've got a Dean's Blackbox and some Trinity discharge resistors that I need to put together.TravelinTravis wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 7:06 am Soldered up a 10W 30ohm resistor, and started cycling some 1400mah SCR's.

Re: So, what did you do RC today?
Painted the Schkee body on my Bolink Eliminator. Some paint boo boos here and there, but nothing that can’t be covered up by decals (plus, I’m going to run it). I had Nathaneal at MCI print me a custom sheet of fictional liveries that should be here today.
It’s now got a Hobbywing 1060, Reedy motor, and FlySky Rx.
This is the inspiration.

I had forgotten how much I hated the larger Dean's Ultra Wire. I said screw it and crimped some automotive terminals on it.

Decided to update my goldpan DS build with one of the new 6001 chassis that I picked up.

I’ve been messing around with the idea of making a Comical Jrx2 on paper before I cut up a chassis.

Making standoffs for a few projects. I needed 16 of them and only broke one 4-40 tap.

Pre-drill the hole with a 3/32 bit instead of the included one. It will still cut full threads but taps much easier.Frankentruck wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 9:49 pm Making standoffs for a few projects. I needed 16 of them and only broke one 4-40 tap.

Re: So, what did you do RC today?
The K&S tube is already the right hole size for 4-40 tapping, I just need to not be lazy and get too aggressive with the thread cutting.
My 2 chucks setup overall works reasonably well, one for holding the tube and one fof holding the tap.

My 2 cents
Probably too late now...
Get rid of those awful Irwin taps. I hate those things
Amazon Drill America - DWT57048 4-40 High Speed Steel 2 Flute Spiral Point Tap, DWT Series
No need to overdrill the aluminum.
I am sure there are even better taps but I like these taps waaaay better. Only a little over $5.
And I haven't broken on of these 2 flute taps yet, broken several Irwins.
Stronger, sharper and tap deeper.

Never too late, thanks for the tip. I hadn't found a 4-40 tap I liked yet and always have more need for threading.
