Easiest / Cheapest Way To Front Hexes On A RC10

Sticking this in 21st Modern, well, because, it ain't vintage to do this.

In February 2023, what is the easiest and cheapest way to get bearing'd hex steering knuckles (blocks) on a vintage RC10B1, without destroying the wheeltrack in the process, and keeping stock susp arms. I am playing around with bits I have around the house, but I am sure someone has a perfect, and low cost, way to get me there which will save me loads of time.

My best guess is that juicedcoupe can give me a Traxxas setup that is easy to get at any LHS, and super cheap at the same time.

The Traxxas setup is easy enough, although it does narrow the front by a few millimeters. Using Bandit caster blocks makes it easier but the more common Slash/Rustler/Stampede blocks are easily modified.

I also had a hybrid setup at one point that used B4 caster blocks, Traxxas 8mm steering blocks, and newer Associated axles (required clearancing and shims).

I'd try the Custom Works kit before anything else.

Thanks JC! I didn't really know where to start. The Bandit parts are about $20 total, and require very little trimming for the narrow arms. I may need to change out to wide arms, and those look like they will require more cutting, but should be doable. I like to stick to Traxxas stuff when I can because it is available everywhere, and super cheap.

The trimming is normal. I've used it on a couple 10T's for years and never broken it. Even with the trimming, there is more material than the original RC10 blocks.

Thanks! I have the 6.0mm version axles from the DR10 sitting around, so I think I will use those, and will need to shim it as you did. DR10 caster blocks narrowed by 3.3mm at the pins, and drilled out to 1/8". Now we are getting beefy.
