Traxxas TRX1 fresh out of storage after 25 years
My sons are getting into rc racing so it has rekindled my love for the hobby. I bought a RC10B6.4 for o race but I decided to break out my original rc cars from when I was a kid. This TRX-1 was my very first rc car that I saved up for and bought as a teenager and have kept it in almost new condition ever since. To my surprise it still runs although I need to track down a few minor parts to make it track ready although I have no intention on racing I just want to show it off a little and then display it at home. It brings back a lot of memories.

Welcome, sweet TRX1

Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.
Hey Cru ! Go balls out

The kid at the Hobby Shop probably thought it was an RC10...

Yeah that rear shock tower has to go. The correct one will be installed soon. Also needing a few shock parts that I’m having difficulty finding but hopefully can track down soon.

Re: Traxxas TRX1 fresh out of storage after 25 years
I mainly just wanted to get it put back together for now and see what parts I needed and see if it all works. Everything works and just need a couple of parts then plan to take it all apart and soak the plastic pieces to help make it less brittle. Got a clear body and have been trying to decide what paint job to do but I think I have decided to replicate the original paint scheme from the original box

Re: Traxxas TRX1 fresh out of storage after 25 years
Thanks everyone. I can definitely see there is more support and appreciation for the vintage stuff on this site. I will keep posting pictures as I go. I have some other vintage rc cars and trucks that I’ll be posting also but wanted to start here with the one that got me into rc racing to begin with. I’ve loved the hobby every since I bought this TRX, just wish I would have had the foresight to keep the original box and buy extra parts back then but at least I took good care of it since I’ve owned it.

Re: Traxxas TRX1 fresh out of storage after 25 years
Going to be painting my TRX1 body this week and looking for some feedback if I should go with the original paint scheme or something completely different and more modern looking. I’m definitely leaning towards the original paint job but would like to hear some feedback regarding it.
