TRX-1 Build (CAD)
I think I have a company that can make these Chassis.
Does anyone have CAD or a drawing of one?
The person that got them made back in 2013 may not be active on the board anymore. I emailed but I have not gotten a response.
It looks like I have enough info to make a TRX1 Chassis. So I changed this thread name.

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
Like a trace with hole locations? I'm no CAD or drafting genius. How do we get the front end dimensions/mounting holes transferred to paper with the "kick" distortion? It's almost like you would need a loaner chassis to clone from.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
yes, I made the mistake of not making the chassis in CAD when I had one.
I do have some measurements, and can get others from mating components. Not too many holes in that chassis.

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
I almost have the Chassis CAD done. I based it off the TCP chassis that I have.
I will need to 3D print the front and rear of the chassis to test fit parts.
Does anyone have the overall length of the TRX1 Chassis.
I have a source for material and our machinist at work may have a local supplier that can cut the sheet.

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
My totally foolproof and most accurate method ever employed.....
344mm
OR
13 and 17/32" (closer to 35/64")
And you can rest assured because that tape measure was purchased at IKEA.

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
Thanks, I am at about 341mm.
If possible can you measure from front Bumper hole to rear most hole? I think this is a more critical dimension.

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
on the bottom of the chassis I measure 28mm middle of front hole to center of kickup angle and 292mm from center of kick to rear most hole totalling 320mm center of front hole to center of rear hole.

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
Is that the shorter chassis?
I adjusted the holes in the front to the center of the bend, that is an important measurement.
I have a fairly good picture I used to get a rough Idea and also some measurements I took years ago.
Front hole to Rear Hole I am at about 10mm difference than your chassis.
Does anyone know what the length difference was between the short and long chassis?

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
didnt think of that when I grabbed the chassis plate. Will go check again...
EDIT part...I grabbed a used chassis that had the rear hacked a little so my numbers are to the furthermost hole of the rear arm mount holes. its another 15mm from there to the center of the rearmost holes.

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
Ok I thought you measured to most rear hole. I measured again in CAD and am at 288 to rear arm mount holed from center of the bend.

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
I actually did...the rear arm mount hole is the rear most hole on that chassis...and guessing thats why it was in the lot at the time. Its cut off neatly though so I didn't pay any attention that the rear 4 center holes were gone...

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
Thanks Much! Almost there. My length is the same now and front hole to bend is good.
Just need a few more measurements. Center of bend to Steering rack hole and distance between steering rack holes.
I want to double check that the TRX3/TCP and TRX1 are the same layout.
Last thing to do is get some 3D prints to check fit of parts.
I think I am also going to do some custom holes to fit this battery holder from Vintage RC. Might have to cut the wings off to use it.

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
Found a Drag Link so now I just need holes from bend.
And from steering post hole to servo hole.

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
Printed out the front and the rear of the car and attached some parts.
Looks good to me. Anyone see anything? Is the spacing between the bell crank and tie-rod on the tower look correct?
Next I will finish up the battery holes.
What is the standard Chassis thickness for these?

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
Man that looks nice. Without one in front of me, everything looks good. I can get a measurement for thickness. But I am out and about at the moment. I want to say 3-3.5mm but I will check.Supernaut wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 7:25 pm Printed out the front and the rear of the car and attached some parts.
