After a lot of issues, the printer is working again...

It took time, and I used a raft to go over my Printer bed adhesion issues, but it's finally here.


I still need to do some work on it (priming, paint, and some finish), but I tested it quickly on the Wild One, and it is just the right sizes... It maybe difficult to see, but it is right here:



I'll take other pictures once it is painted. It will be easy to fix with double face tape or just drilling two holes on both the driver lexan shell and the dashboard and fix it with some screws and nut (there is enough room to put some nuts inside the dashboard.

Since the printer issue is solved, I reprinted the rear led support with a slightly different orientation.


The quality is really better, due both to the printer fixed and the different orientation.



I'm planning to paint the dashboard over the week-end while printing some Samurai wheels...

I've just started the build & just finished cutting out the plastic lenses for the headlights. In hindsight, using scissors as recommended may not have been the best way to an even circle, but I'm hoping the rough edges will keep those imperfections hidden well enough. I think I do want to pause here & add some LEDs.

I've never done a lighting kit before & was just wondering if there was a particular kit that's ideal (the Google machine came back with a few options labeled as intended for the application) or I should just pick up any generic 5mm LED set?

I love the look of the chrome inside the light bucket ... is that just a special paint? Forgive the rookie questions; body prep has never been my strong suit but I'm giving this one a shot.

The chrome inside the light buckets is done with a paint marker : Molotow liquid chrome effect

This will probably be my next Tamiya as well. The new BBX kind of got in its way. Great buggy that you can actually drive!

Nice looking kit, but I found the overall build quality to be terrible. You can damage the finish or break something by blowing on it.

Just out of curiosity, what broke? My main concern with the buggy are those anemic pogo shocks it comes with. To me it seems more of a dune buggy meant for sand dunes or beaches.

Shoot - honestly I don't even remember at this point; I got through half of the build and lost interest. I was holding my breath removing parts from trees & trying to slice off flash without totally wrecking the finish, which is so impossible in some cases that they even tell you to use a silver pen to touch it up. I was thinking I'd just finish the build & try to sell it, but I will probably just put it on eBay as-is. Maybe I'm just spoiled but compared to the Kyosho kit I'd recently finished, it didn't feel like the same ballpark in terms of the instructions, parts quality, or overall engineering & fit 'n finish.

The blue one has that chrome plating on it huh! I didn't think about that. Maybe if I do one it will be the red one that's molded red and not plated.

Yes that chrome plated is indeed not so nice as it goes away too easily. And I also suspect the thickness of the plating is not always the same, as @XLR8 pointed out some issues with the differential...
Ultimately, and taking into consideration min was not going box art anyway, I could have used a non Blockhead Motorsport, but that was the only one available at that time to start the project...
