Bottom load 1.02 shocks were never made. At least, not that type.
Newer V2's were a bottom load design but are a little more modern design.

I guess that helps make the decision. Are the caps interchangeable? thanks for reply!juicedcoupe wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 5:13 pm Bottom load 1.02 shocks were never made. At least, not that type.

I did run into a pair of 1.02 bottom load bodies, gold anodized. They weren’t available on any kit but were an add on. I’ll have to see if I can fin them on an old price list.juicedcoupe wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 5:13 pm Bottom load 1.02 shocks were never made. At least, not that type.

Working on the v2 shocks is much nicer then the older internal clip ones. I have all 3 types and the v2 are easiest to rebuild and make correct.

Yes, correct.
I seen a listing for optional 1.02 bottom load bodies. I've never seen a set for sale.
At any rate, I prefer top load. I like the V2 as well but I'm not aware of a gold body.

looking at my options, should I just get some modern shocks? what do you guys think, I can spend a small fortune in parts for these sub par shocks.

You say that you have some GT shocks, why not use them?
This is a set that I just stripped and polished.
I also had some aluminum caps laying around, so I did them as well.

Re: RC4X4's RC10 Resto runner (basement find)
ok, so Ive been living life and havent updated this basement find post. Since then I found another rc10, but this is a C stamp, (holes for stealth trans). Being that the og basement find (A stamp) was so clean I decided not to turn it into a restoration, but just to clean it up and shelf it. So I will start a new thread with the C stamp find and add a few pics. Its been a journey as you know restoring any older rc, but fun. here is a pic of the mid stage of restoration of the C stamp. Keep your eyes peeled for more pics on the other post and thanks everyone that helped here finding parts and helping sort issues. see build pics here

I knew that they were out there, but bottom load 1.02's aren't very common. By the time they were in common use (10T), they were top load.
