Team Losi XX Motor Guard Re-Finishing

Post by Maxline »

Can anyone share any tips or tricks on how they are refinishing their XX era motor guards? Trying to clean up a few runners and wanted to get them looking better. Thanks in advance!

In the 90s when I raced a XX I would just sand them with wet and dry so that it looked nice and shiny like the light weight version

I gently sandblasted mine as there were very deep scratches, came up nice and uniform, and matt finish, clear coat on top.
it suited one of my cars anyway.
Good luck

Hello Maxline

About 6 months ago I refinished my XX motor mount and the rest of the car as well.

I did some DIY anodizing and it turned out pretty nice.
Here's a link that shows the process-
