I think I have my wheels now (they were cheap ) but have to figure out a respectable rear tire in 2" diameter. Schumacher has a mini spike SCHU6849 but I'd probably wear those out quickly. The Turbo Optima Re Re tires could probably work, but I'm not sure I want the block pattern. Not sure if there are any Tamiya tires options. I'm not well versed on many of their rear wheel sizes. The 2.1" front looks to be a little easier to find.

Got the new treads on. Went with the Traxxas 1771 fronts and Schumacher T692 rears. Also added a Yeah Racing switch to the ESC. Also added a battery cradle that's similar to the original. Not really sure which one I'll stay with.
There's a guy that makes Losi XX bodies from the original mold. I'm thinking they might be a good fit for this chassis shape.

I gave paint stripping a try on an old shell that came with an RC10CE. It had been painted on the outside rather than inside. Pouring brake fluid on it and forgetting about it for a week did a pretty good job loosening the old paint. I gave it the mad cow treatment. There was some overspray on the inside that I didn't notice, but I think it still turned out pretty good for a runner body. Interestingly, I noticed the red Tamiya PS-2 paint not getting along with the black Spaz Stix paint in one spot. I gave the shell a pretty thorough washing before painting, so not sure if it's paint incompatibility or what. But its still good enough for my painting standards.

I've combined Tamiya and Spaz Stix paints before. But it was a Spaz Stix color change and Tamiya base (along with a Duratrax backer and stripes). However, I gave the coats plenty of time to dry.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.
