Vintage losi motor info
Hello all I am new to this forum and am looking for a little bit of info on a what I believe to be early trinity/losi motor. From what I have found this is a early "Motown Missile" 12T Quad wind but I am curious about the "B" marking on the bottom (maybe just means buggy) and also maybe someone can give me a bit of info on the history and rarity of this little gem

Those can markings look like they were added by whoever purchased the motor. Not factory markings.

I don't know how rare they are, but they don't come up for sale on eBay very often. Everyone that has them tends to keep them.

Re: Vintage losi motor info
So I initially thought the motown missile was a quad wind and based on that chart it is a single So now I have no idea what this thing is, and without unwinding it how can I tell what turn it is? Likely disassembly is the only way I think. I attached a pic showing it is a quad. I wonder if I can call losi or trinity but the last time I called trinity about a vintage question they had no clue.

Re: Vintage losi motor info
Quite an interesting one this. I always thought the white label Revo motors were the Daytona Ovals.... quite aggressive low wind motors.
Regarding the etched markings... i have a Revo WetMag II, WetMag IV and an Insane and they all have etched identifiers on the base (being 2, 4 and I). The Wetmag IV I have had from new so i can confirm that is factory. I have seen them with and without though. I have never seen the winding info noted however.
As you say it looks like a quad. I am wondering whether the winding info on the base (looks a bit like 12 Q ??) has been added when somebody swapped the armature? You need somebody who knows the know to run an inductance test on the armature to confirm the winding spec.

Re: Vintage losi motor info
It looks to be a motor someone threw together with a Losi can, Trinity endbell and mystery armature. Probably why 12Q is etched on the bottom so they could quickly figure out what they were looking at. Jack Johnson raced locally here in Vegas way back when, pretty much all of his mod motors had the Motown Missile decal on them but they were all different winds. He liked to keep em guessing
