Alpha/pureten Differential
I found my old Kyosho Alpha at the back of the garage a couple of weeks ago.
it was last ran 15+yrs ago and has been in a box since I clipped a curb breaking the rear diff casing and suspension arm.
I ordered the bits and started stripping the car, it now looks like the differential itself is broken. The part number I need is AG6, but nowhere has these anymore as the car is so old (none on eBay either).
does anyone know if any other cars are a direct replacement? Diff is approx 38mm diameter and 55mm to the edge of each driveshaft coupler.

Re: Alpha/pureten Differential
AFAIK, the problem with the Pureten Alpha cars (and many other of Kyosho's cheap offerings) is that parts often look like they might be compatible, but often are not because the size and shape of parts differs just a little bit (but still significantly so) from the more competition-oriented Pureten cars. This does not apply to all of the parts, I think you might be in luck with the differentials as at least the internals are compatible with other Kyosho gear diffs (they're just not hardened steel).
Is this the belt-drive version or the shaft drive version?

Re: Alpha/pureten Differential
Looking at the manual.. I think it does have the same diff as the normal Pureten, which is also used in the Nitro/EV Blizzards. They list the FZW-13 & FZW-15 hardened steel bevel/spider gears as an optional upgrade which confirms some interchangeability.
Do you need the diff ring/crown gear or the plastic bevel gear housing? All the parts have been available separately..

I need the main cog/metal bit. The four screw holes on mine have pulled through. Everything else looks ok (internal cogs and plastic cover)

Re: Alpha/pureten Differential
You want Kyosho #FZ13. #39509 is the hardened steel version but it’s expensive if you can find it.

Thanks for the info!
I’ve ordered one from either Spain or Italy, can’t remember which, cost about £25 including delivery, hopefully it’ll be here in a week.
Thanks again!

Re: Alpha/pureten Differential
While I await my need diff, could I pick your brains on a 2 speed kit. Used to one available AGW2 (I think), now discontinued, any idea if one from another car would fit?BattleTrak wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 7:16 am You want Kyosho #FZ13. #39509 is the hardened steel version but it’s expensive if you can find it.
Might as well order some new bearings while I have it apart too.
