870c drive shafts

Post by slazzaro »

Hello everybody! Does anyone know if there is a source for 879c driveshafts or something adaptable?
What would be the part number, for fronts and rears?
Thanks in advance!

Yokomo axles are unique with the set screw flats and no other way to attach hubs. A common thing is to switch to kyosho axles and a hex conversion. I could be off but I think for 870c, the axles needed are 68 and 73 mm bones. Kyosho really loves their parts and the price reflects that. There are a few cheaper brands that make replacement axles.

One can also have that Kyosho or Team Losi 22t axle machined to accept the Yokomo hub

I also know somebody who will be releasing new versions soon of the zc421 universals for the 870c and the zc422 universals for the works series of cars.

Thanks everyone for the very useful information!
Of course having direct fit parts available would be the best.. any idea of "how soon is soon"?

About adapting existing shafts, I see that RB5/6 parts are best suited. I guess the thread will have to be cut off and a flat spot machined. Right?

Thanks again all!

One more thing.. I see that RB5 and RB6 universals UM522 are just 65.5mm, rather than 70mm as I read in the linked thread.. what am I missing?

They should be ready anytime now and as far as the kyosho universals I don't think they cut the threads off they used a hey style wheel and nut instead of yokomo hubs and wheels.

just 421 and 422s? what about 423s? i think if i had 422s and 423s, i would buy several sets and possible use the RC10 rear hubs on my Masami 89.

I got in touch with JC Racing and they confirmed they're working on repro universals for the 870c.
Therefore I'm going to wait for these rather than adapting any current parts.
Hopefully by end of year... Fingers crossed!

Too bad they don't seem to have other lengths for doing Masami 870c cars.
