Mp9 tki3 pull start problem

Post by Uros »

Hello, i have a problem with pull start on my mp9 tki3 buggy. When i try to start the engine, pull start normally doesn't pull back, i don't know why, i put a brand new pull start and nothing fixed. Though when the engine "bites" it pulls back, and that is kind of an indicator that it will start soon, at least for me. If anyone knows how i could fix this, i would appreciate if you send how I could fix it. Thanks.

Sounds like the one way bearing is gummed up or faulty. I’d take it out and clean it well. Try it on the pull start shaft, it should lock one direction and spin freely the other.

Ahh ok yeah that’s a different mech for sure. Looks like it is supposed to ramp up on the shaft, so I’d make sure that the piece slides nicely on the shaft, check for burrs or anything that would cause it to lock up instead of free spinning. Can’t say I’ve seen that mechanism before, if it were in my hands I could probably see the issue

We've had problems with those "ramps" bending and jamming. For sure take it all apart and check for smooth operation.

The fuel lubricates it so just dip it in some fuel when you put it back in. There might be a bearing in there so check that it hasn't come apart, and it may have a little check ball and spring in there as well so just make sure you don't lose that on the floor when you take it apart.
