Re: Tamiya discontinued items?
I was hoping that someone with some industry knowledge would post something informative. Instead, we got off on a discussion about shocks and bodies.

Re: Tamiya discontinued items?
As far as I know nobody here works for Tamiya. If you want insider info you would probably want to ask the insiders. We are just a group of guys that play with toy cars. I’ll keep my nose out of your threads from now on. Sorry for wasting your time.
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

Re: Tamiya discontinued items?
For a topic that amounted to complaining about how expensive vintage and re-re parts have become, that sure escalated quickly...

Re: Tamiya discontinued items?
To answer your question, Tamiyas decision to discontinue certain items has to do with licensing.rraeford wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 2:20 pm I have to confess to not paying a whole lot of attention to Tamiya or Kyosho in the past year, but is it me or have Tamiya prices gone through the roof? I pulled out an M-05 Mine Cooper kit that I have been meaning to build for a while and thought about getting a second body for it. I was stunned at the prices for them! Also, I see from a bit of searching that this and many other kits are now unavailable. Does anyone know if this is COVID-related or just Tamiya trimming the line? Also, same question for Kyosho.
Such is the case of your Mini Cooper body. BMW who owns Mini, Harley Davidson became a little greedy in their renewal, so Tamiya didn’t renew.
Additionally as of last year, Ferrari is also gone.
Kits on the other hand, they allow to be marked as discontinued only to reissue them down the road. Eg the 2013 Egress, Buggy Champ, Wild One are all seeing new production runs.
As for pricing, kit prices have certainly gone up in the past year, thanks to this pandemic.
