Gearing suggestion for Reedy Radon 2 19T, six-gear
Running a 54T 32P AE spur. The B4 RTR manual recommends 9.57 as FDR for a 19T motor (I think the original Radon 17T was stock in that car). A 54/10 would be in that neighborhood for the six gear, does that sound about right? I'll most likely run lipo with modern tires, just ripping around the yard, if that matters.
Also, 1.83, 1.85 or 1.87 internal ratio? I've seen all three listed. I meant to count the teeth myself when I had the trans apart, but it's closed up now and I'm not going back in there until I have to.

I've never run lipo batteries, but I'm finding that 3000mah NIMH is a lot of power and run time for a brushed motor. I'm finding that I need to have time limits (which I hate) to avoid overheating brushed motors. I haven't seriously shopped for lipos, so maybe there are some that are brushed motor friendly. What type are you planning to run?

This is from the RC10 Classic manual. It even has a 19T listed.
I'm about to put a 19T Radon in a six gear car. I planned on starting with 81/18, 48P gears.
Keep in mind that early RC10 tires are shorter than modern 2.2 tires, changing the effective gearing.

That would put me at 54/11-12.
Which sounds about right because my smallest current pinion is a 13T. Of course.

Not sure yet, something that fits without modifying the setup I have now. I have the battery cup almost touching the servo mount and most new lipos are slightly too big in every dimension. I have a Thunder Power 5000 that fits perfect but it is 10 years old at least and was rode hard in 17.5 boosted touring car and mod dirt sprints, now it won't balance and seems like a liability.Frankentruck wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 8:02 pm I've never run lipo batteries, but I'm finding that 3000mah NIMH is a lot of power and run time for a brushed motor. My Reedy Wolfpack 3300mah 2s Lipo (hard case) is almost the exact same dimensions as my 6 cell Nimh batteries, only difference is the 2s is only 1/8" longer. Thickness and width are the same. Likely the closest 2s dimensions you're going to get to a Nimh battery.flatspunout wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 12:11 am Not sure yet, something that fits without modifying the setup I have now. You buy lipo stick packs, same dimensions as nimh. They even fit older Tamiya cars.
