You need to use the inner plastic ring on the 3 piece wheels to clamp the tire beads. The whole purpose of the 3 piece wheels is to secure the tires without glue, but you need to use all 3 pieces to do that. If you don't, the rims will just spin the tires off as you have seen. If you don't glue the tires to your new one piece rims, the same thing will happen, the tires will get spun off.

So, I can use the J concepts double dees tires with the old three piece wheels? I feel like an idiot. It never occurred to me to try because I was using the foam inserts and those don’t fit with the inner plastic ring.
Doh!

Re: Resurrecting my goldpan
I'm seeing the yellow front and rear wheels in stock, as well as the front tires. The rear tires seem to be out of stock everywhere.

Yeah, I think they should. You'll need to cram the inner rings in there with the foams but that shouldn't be too big an issue. If the foams compress a bit more, that isn't a big deal.AVguy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 12:26 pmadam lancia wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 5:44 amYou need to use the inner plastic ring on the 3 piece wheels to clamp the tire beads. Re: Resurrecting my goldpan
So, I put the tires and wheels together the correct way and they work great. I also ordered the Traxxas 7171 and J concepts mono wheels with the Duratrax Bandito tires. I’m still waiting for the hex adapters before I can put them on the car. I also ordered the JC Racing 5 star wheels in black. Still waiting for those to come in.
In the meantime, I installed a Sky RC GC401 gyro. I saw some videos about gyros and I thought it would be a good idea to have better control over the car. It’s cool I can also control the gain with the transmitter. I just wish I could find some shorter black wires to connect the gyro. The orange, yellow and brown wires are killing me.
I still can’t take it outside because of the weather. Truthfully, I almost don’t want to take it outside ever because I worked so hard to get it clean.

With an IWISS Crimping tool and universal servo connector kit from Amazon every wire can be cut to any custom length

Re: Resurrecting my goldpan
Considering the very well used car you started out with, it has turned out fantastic ! Keep the pics coming as well.
Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.
Hey Cru ! Go balls out

I used the Bandito tires on one of my RC10's as well. Mine is a short arm car with wide offset RPM wheels and rear tires all around.AVguy wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 11:36 pm So, I put the tires and wheels together the correct way and they work great. If you don't want to cut the wires, a little heat shrink can be used as well.

Re: Resurrecting my goldpan
I saw the kits you are talking about but I’m probably not going to use any of that stuff again. I was just hoping to find some short wires in black. Who knows, maybe my OCD will get the best of me and I’ll buy it.

That looks bad ass! I didn’t know you could put rear tires in the front.
Good idea with the heat shrink.

It is a short arm car with hex conversion. The wheels are also wide offset.

I agree. The car looks amazing with those fat tires all around.AVguy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 2:34 amjuicedcoupe wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 4:16 pmI used the Bandito tires on one of my RC10'Ss as well.
