Advice for restoring my bargain RC10

Hi All

I'm new, I picked up an RC10 from a local car boot sale (think flea market for those not in the UK) for the grand price of £5. Now it's been probably 15- 20 years since I last played with anything RC but recognised it as an RC10 when I saw it sitting in the box, it also came with a mostly complete Mardave Cobra TQ which I also plan on restoring (Parts are really easy to find in the UK for a Mardave as they still make the spares).

The RC10 seems mostly complete, my first plan of action is to strip it all down and put it through the ultrasonic cleaner to get rid of all the dirt and grime and then retrobrite the yellowed plastics to bring them back to white.

Now I have a few questions:

• The chassis has a few scratches on them, has anyone found a way of making them less visible ?

• Are there sources for parts for these cars, ideally in the UK, are people making reproduction parts etc?

• What upgrades should be made to it?

• Does anyone have DXF files / cad drawings of the parts? I see people referring to the graphite chassis, has anyone drawn this up?

I have access to machining facilities, and myself own a 3d printer and 3 axis cnc milling machine, so would like to experiment making parts.

Be sure to use an a cleaner that is safe for aluminum.

Over here, I use Simple Green Pro HD ( purple stuff). Some other cleaners will discolor it.

If you decide to keep the MSC and sideways battery, you will likely need a custom battery pack or a small lipo pack.

If you decide to use a esc and inline battery, you will likely need to drill new holes for the battery mount or buy a 3D printed mount that lines up the original holes.

I'll be switching to an ESC, 3d printing wont be a problem, ill just draw/print what I need
