Hi all, I’m new to this forum but have been reading it off and on through the years. I used to race in the early 90’s at a small local rc shop then worked at a hobby town USA in the late 90’s. I’ve raced rc10t’s losi Xxt’s and inroad cars off and on over the decades.
I purchased this mystery a few weeks ago off a local sales ad in Texas. It originally came from a racer in California who raced in the early to mid 90’s. They raced on the Norcca circuit and raced at the ranch pit shop and purchased a number of items from there. I got a lot of his receipts for parts, norcca membership info and information on tracks he raced at and visited. Sadly he passed away a while ago.
This is based off an rc10. I posted it on some fb pages and everyone seems to agree it was hand made. I wanted to post it here so others could see it and maybe someone could shed some light on it.
I think it’s a bit too good to be hand made. The chassis is a tub chassis and tapers towards the front. Most of the holes are drilled and countersunk. Some are crude and appear to have been added later compared to all the others that are symmetrical and perfectly finished.
The front shock tower and bulk ahead looks to have been machined out of a block of aluminum.
It has a track master direct drive transmission and no holes for a 6gear or stealth transmission.
On of the reasons I don’t think it was hand made is the rear shock tower. It also had a 2nd one with it that was anodized gold. I can’t see why someone making this from scratch would go through that trouble of anodizing it.
If you have info on it I would love to hear about it. Either way hope you all enjoy the pictures and can add another one off to the forums for others to enjoy.
Unknown aluminum tub sprint car. Hand made?
