Refinish TRX-1 / Eagle Springs
The original blue paint on my original rear TRX-1 springs is nearly gone.
Has anyone attempted to refinish old Traxxas TRX Pro series springs? If so, any luck or lessons learned? Anyone know of a good color match?

Re: Refinish TRX-1 / Eagle Springs
I sanded the loose stuff off / polished them a bit with some super fine then brakleen. Then I sprayed them with some lightish blue krylon just enough to cover the metal, then a heat gun for a bit. Then another coat of paint, some more heat gun. Then I let them dry/cure for a couple days. They look good and compress/rebound with no flaking. I can take a look at them tomorrow at the shop. I keep my shelfer at work!!
The color isn't a perfect match but I've never seen a factory spring that has retained it's paint so a flaked out spring with traces of original paint would be more correct but they just look a might ruddy.
But that's what can be done with the method I "made up"

Hope you're doin' something fun.

All I can add is that they are stainless steel and I thought they were powder coated. If they peeled easily, then they were just painted. I'll take a look at mine and see if there is a color that looks close out there.

Re: Refinish TRX-1 / Eagle Springs
The springs I've seen that had a glossy solid color, but non-metallic color, had some kind of coating on them. Some were probably powder-coated but others, it peels off too easily to be powder coating, but it's too plasticy to be paint. I wonder if those colored springs are dipped in something like Plasti-Dip? Just tossing that out there.

Re: Refinish TRX-1 / Eagle Springs
I even found the paint I used. iirc, I took a spring to the hardware store and found the closest color I could match to it.
I was going for the "spirit" of the original appearance.
