I started some cleaning and reassembly last night, and low and behold, I had all the necessary hardware on hand. I swapped out the (too long) aluminum screws for stainless, all found in a hardware package for Losi, from Team KNK Hardware.

IMO since the LB-1000 was released in 1991, and the Hydra-Drive came out the following year, it would be period correct and acceptable to have one on it. Speedcraft makes a Hydra top shaft for it, and I happen to have a few in my stash. The Hydra was great for mod motors on a blown out track.
