Re: BEER! What's your favorite?
Pardon my noobin', but I just have to chip in to this thread at last!
My favorite beer happens to be the Moonlinght brewing "Death & Taxes", brewed in a barn and hand-delivered by the brewer to a few lucky bay-area bars in CA!
Also good is any Russian River brewery beer (Santa Rosa), who make several of the best beers out this-a-way.
Currently rollin' a sixer of Speakeasy Big Daddy IPA, which though has somewhat silly bottle-graphics is a solid brew.

I have a Novak problem....

Russian River beer is consistantly rated top of the heap by Beer Advocate. Great brews. Speak Easy Big Daddy Double is a great IPA as well. I kind of like the bottle graphics.....

COLD beer is my favorite
, Actually my wife just picked up a SA winter pack, and I am drinking a Chocolate Bock right now and it's really a cool mix of flavors-reminds me of the Sam Adams Triple Bock case I bought 12 years ago-

Can I recommend trying "Stowford's Press" and "Gaymer's Olde English", both much nicer than Strongbow...... they just taste like there are less chemicals involved in the process. Not quite as good as proper scrumpy though!!
Could someone explain why when I've been in a bar in the states and ask for cider why I've got such strange looks from the barman? Are American and English ciders very different?
I am quite partial to a nice Sloe Gin too.

Well guess I'm a cheapsake. Cause we usually just pick up a case of Budlight. But to be honest, I like Labats Blue. Can't wait to come back to NY to live. But might just have to check out some of these brews you are referring to. After being in Iraq for a year, I think even the Aussie's Victoria's Bitter would be appreciated!
Re: BEER! What's your favorite?
I will look for those although i can bet i will have to order them , not much selection where i live in northern Ontariopeetbee wrote:Mmm cider.DW911 wrote:Lakeport pilsner

Ah that explains it then!DW911 wrote:I will look for those although i can bet i will have to order them , not much selection where i live in northern Ontario........i don't think english cider has much of a following here in north america and yes for sure the cider over here is no comparison ......it's more like wine or sodapop.
Gaymers produce Blackthorn so you may have some luck in getting it.
Stowfords press is made by Weston's Cider, a relatively small brewery so that may be difficult to get hold of sorry. They also make Old Rosie which is more of a proper scrumpy.

Living in Portland Oregon, we have no shortage of Microbreweries.

-Black Butte Porter
-Nut Brown Ale
-Henry Weinhards
